LG 42-inch OLED

I am seriously thinking of cancelling my AW3423DW order and then buying the 7800XT to replace my 6800XT and then get the C2 42”.

If the leaks are to be trusted the 7800XT will be 60% better than the 3090 which could get me very close to 120fps at 4K.

It's all BS floating around til it's actually released, I doubt it'll be that much stronger than a 3090 though.
I know we should always take the leaks with a pinch of salt but with each new generation we have seen a big improvement. And if the numbers taken by known and reliable leakers like Kopite that the 7600XT will match the 3080 and that is the lowest of the 7000 cards. Then a 7800XT should be better than a 3090.

But as you said we will see when they are actually tested as I don’t trust both AMD or Nvidia when they put out their numbers.

While I know I could probably game at 4K with a 6800XT due to Freesync and probably won’t a notice I think being used to playing with higher frames that by pushing the games to 100-120 fps which would max out the C2 a much better experience.

Generally speaking, 6800XT as per your last line will do a very good Job. I am not even maxing things on on my OLED's with a 3090, yet experience is still top notch. make some smart tweaks in demanding games and your golden. In plenty of less demanding games will be less of an issue. Realistically game at 80fps-90fps or so is not going to matter much vs hitting say 100 fps you mention.

A good point. I have been reading up the difference between Ultra and high settings and most the time people can’t tell the difference. Plus I enabled SAM which gives a bit extra FPS.

There will always be the odd games like the Assassin’s Creed series that always run badly (unoptimised)

I know a lot of you LG C2 owners were looking for guides on best settings, and a while back I said I was working on one from TFTCentral - it's now available and live here, hopefully that's useful to you all :)

Just tried the SDR settings in your vid. The only big change that I noticed coming from mostly default was the color temperature. Ive been using 0 ever since I got the screen and changing to warm 48 was a big change lol
Never knew about 6500k recommendation. Will give it a try and see how my eyes adjust. Thx

No worries. And you’ve disabled eco mode, set the input to PC mode too I assume?

Thanks for this. Carried some of the tweaks over to my G2 also which I tend to game more on from a distance and looks good also.

Yea - got those set already. The OLED Brightness I was adjusting quite frequently depending on whats being displayed. Ranging from 20 to 40. In the end I settled for 35 which was quite close to your recommendation.
Yeah I find that a good level for PC and close up use. For my Tv (CX) I find 150 nits a good balance for all uses and lighting without having to change it regularly :)

Anyone do development work on one of these? At 4k how's it look with 4 windows tiled or two side by side.....

Actually.....I could just try it on my 65" LG, will be similar enough to get an idea...

Just picked mine up from Currys. Looks awesome, coming from a curved screen this one looks convex so need to adjust. How do you tell if I have the newer panel?

I really want an OLED, it's just that nagging feeling, that lack of peace of mind with regards to burn-in... Feels like you have to keep on jumping through hoops just to maintain the screen... still want one!

@khemist How close are you to that screen? I was worried on my desk but yours looks a lot more shallow than mine. I'd probably get a mounting arm thing anyway to knock some distance off.

Could you please measure the distance from the screen to the back wall? I'd be interested to see if I'll save much distance by mounting it and those legs look like they poke out a bit.
