London pollution & ULEZ

I just had a look at the map showing the expansion and it's actually more significant than I realised. For those saying it's about money and profit, I give you exhibit A below. Absolutely no need to have that slither coming out specifically to capture Chessington. Now why would they do that? Oh wait.... loads of people drive to Chessington World of Adventures theme park from far away. Yes please ££££

If they are driving old donkeys with a ton of crud spewing out the back of them, why not?

Oh that's dirty.

It would be interesting to see the data they use to decide on the zone. When Manchester protested about it's the key data was that in fact pollution want even high at all.

What is interesting is they have clearly missed out Thorpe Park, wonder how much money local politicians got out of Thorpe Park for the privilege.

Sorry to be a Muppet.
I'm a non driver aswell
The new ulez will come out and cover my mum's place in Romford. Rm111lx
What exactly does this mean for a car owner living in the zone?
A charge of £12.5 a day to drive your car?
Explain it as simple as possible.
Thx lol

Its best to use a website to check https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/check-your-vehicle/ . The biggest problem is for diesels registered before September 2015. Petrol cars that are non compliant are much older (January 2006). There may be exceptions though so you need to check the specific car.

Depends on her vehicle, its age, type of engine and more.
But yes, if she owns a non ULEZ compliant vehicle, she will have an extra charge every day she takes it out.

Need to be more like the French, they'd all band together and just take down any cameras and refuse to pay any fines.

I should point out I’m all for cleaner air and think ULEZ is a good idea, I just think it should not have been implemented as fast in the outer areas, the inner ULEZ area got a lot more warning before the implementation I think.

If their car is non compliant with ULEZ they will pay £12.50 every time they drive it.

To be fair to a lot of people this will affect, it literally writes their car off overnight. :( I do feel for them. Nobody is going to pay £12.50 a day to drive to Lidl. M&S maybe.... ;)

There will most likely be a load of people that carry on regardless and "don't believe in it" or don't understand that they will in fact receive fines. A lot of older people etc. I can see them making an absolute fortune in fines the first few weeks.

ULEZ zones are fine.. If there is good public transport.

Park and ride
Normal buses,
Trams
Trains.

I wouldn't mind one in Cardiff. But at the moment it would just stop me going into town as there isn't any good public transport routes in. They are slow, overcrowded and badly funded.

Does this part of London have tube stops and stuff?

Check see if it’s compliant, also you can ask and get an extension so you don’t need to pay for a number of years but you need to be a blue badge holder and something else I think.
My parents won‘t need to pay it until 2027 I believe, by then they should hopefully have a compliant car.

Also be careful stepping out the door in Romford, and accidentally dropping litter, you will have a gang of enforcement officers hiding around the corner and handing you a nice £150 fine.

All for ULEZ, so long as there’s a reasonable heads up before implementation for people to change their vehicles.

Not sure how much of a warning they’ve had for the expansion mind.
