LOST..... How do you think it will end

After being in Egypt for the last 3 weeks and listening to Egyptologists every day while looking at millions of hieroglyphs, I'm beginning to think Lost is based on mythology and all the Egyptian Gods.
I haven't read all this thread so don't know if anybody else has mentioned it.

Awww no heres trouble :D

Yeah Its been mentioned once or twice, I think the more and more the shows goes on, the more it would suggest so...

The fight between the Egyptian demon (Apep aka MIB) and demi-god (Sobek or some agent of Ra aka Jacob) ends with Apep not getting off the island (the cork to his prison) because Hurley becomes the new jail keeper and richard with the help of the other candidates manage to defeat Apep.

The statue was built in honor of Apep's (now dead?) wife, who was the goddess of childbirth... which also ties in with why there are problems bearing children on the island.

The noise of chains when Apep takes his smoke monster (snake) form are symbolic of him being shackled in his prison.

I thought everyone come to the conclusion that it has some links to Egyptian mythology ages ago? Ya know, with the statue etc.

I'm pretty sure, throughout the entire six seasons, the show has had 'some' links to many different themes. It's only now however, with the benefit of hindsight that we can say with some conviction... yes, it has major links my Egyptian mythology.

One statue doesn't make a link.
The island could have been a zoo for Polar Bears.

However, in the area where Locke killed everybody there were hieroglyphs on the walls.

There were hieroglyphs on the walls of the Frozen Donkey Wheel cave back at the end of season four. They are also on the secret door in Ben's house when he goes to summon the Smoke Monster.

Actually hieroglyphics have been a constant theme throughout all seasons: the swan countdown timer, the frozen wheel that is used to move the island and the tapestrys in Jacobs room below the Statue of Taweret or Tawerat, what ever its called, spring to mine.

*EDIT* Beaten

It's been obvious that Egyptian mythology has always played a bigger role in the Lost story, I mean, yeah, lots of different themes are there, but theres lots of Egyptian stuff in there, it's packed to the rafters with it really.

I thought I read somewhere that only a handful of people had access to the script for the final act, ie. not even any actors had read it yet? Hmmphh.

Yes they do, sorry didn't make my self clear, this piece of work was found when the producers met to discuss it in a restaurant and it was left behind by accident. ABC have confirmed it is their property and have also said "there are elements of truth in it" after speculation it was left on purpose. If any of you want to know what it said post your e-mail address and I'll show you the picture. Obviously i can't show it here as it's a major spoiler. I'll add that it's nothing too revealing, you couldn't piece the ending together with it but it does give a rough story line.

Are these themes going to lead to an actual connection to the mythology mentioned where it's all something to do with the ancient Egyptians, or have the writers just used existing mythology because they lack imagination/originality?

Wooooo check this theory:

Says that MiB is a Genie (stupid at first thought yes, but read on):

Genie is trapped. MIB is trapped.

Genie grants wishes. MIB grants wishes.

Genie comes out as a pillar of smoke. MIB comes out as a pillar of smoke.

There's history and legend behind this too -- I don't think MIB is the archetype of a genie -- I think MIB is LITERALLY a genie.

The Island has two genies, (also called a djinn in Arabic, notice the similarity to Jin who as far as we know is still a candidate)

Additional info:

The pre-Islamic Zoroastrian culture of ancient Persia believed in jaini/jahi, evil female spirits thought to spread diseases to people.

jinn often harass and even possess humans, for various reasons, such as romantic infatuation, revenge, or due to a deal made with a practitioner of black magic.

In addition to their animal forms, the jinn occasionally assume human form to mislead and destroy their human victims.

Edit:

"Djinn are said to avoid salt and steel, however killed by silver dipped in lamb’s blood, and to be afraid of the sound of singing."

Both the weapons given to Sayid (by Dogan) and Richard (by the MIB) were silver in color. Had these been previously covered in lambs blood, I dunno. I think its defineately going to end religiously.

Im intrigued at how they're going to fit all these wonderful theories into 5 episodes.

Brace for Massive Disappointment.

My point is, whatever "theory" is correct will need to be "revealed" extremely quickly. It will be a sort of "Oh, and I'm Beelzebub. Jacob is God" revelation in the last five minutes, and it wont really "tie" anything together. Unless the 2 hour episode is flashbacks of all 6 series showing how the fact that he is the Devil or whatever put Adam and Eve in the caves, the polar bears on the other island and all that crap.

It's just worrying that with 5 episodes remaining, they still havent started to answer 6 series worth of questions. It would need to be one hell of a revelation, and I cant think of a single one that would answer all my questions.

Of course they have

What about stuff like who the smoke monster is and Richard's story as just a few?

I think the next two episodes will have some major revelations in terms of story with some important and shocking things happening ;). Just search for lostspoilerwiki and look at The Candidate/Across the Sea which are the next two episodes :). But some pretty major mysteries will be answered in Across The Sea. They have said that The Monster won't be explained until the very end of the show however.

Your questions could be completely obscure though, and entirely arbitrary to the main themes of the show.

If anyone is expecting an in depth analysis and explanation to EVERY SINGE unanswered mystery or unexplained event over the last six seasons delivered to them on a plate, tied up with a lovely little pink pow... they are going to be thoroughly disappointed.

Sigh, some people...
