They were awesome

Im not sure Im watching the same program as you, Richard was sent to kill Jacob, when he was first shipwrecked on the island, also I dont get what you are saying about the fact a paramedic says 'we have a gunshot wound' shows! the timelines will meet and sun dies? she recognised locke because its been shown that when characters in the alt timeline have a near death experience they recall memories of the first timeline, she got shot, lost her baby and nearly died, hence the recognition, where do you get her death from?
he was only sent to kill jacob because he was promised he would get his wife back. he was never a candidate
who the heck is annie? i don't remember her .....
There's only one answer I need:
What, in the name of Zeus's butthole, was the reason for the hostility between the Others and the survivors of flight 815????
One other question: Why did Mrs Klugh insist on being shot by Mikhail?
Because it was their code of conduct to die in the name of the Island and release no information, if they took her back to their camp they'd of tortured her and eventually killed her so she spared that brutality, i believe.
the smoke monster cannot kill the candidates.
this is why he kills some people but not others, example black rock, he kills everyone apart from richard. only candidates can kill jacob, that is why he sends richard to kill jacob.
it seems as though he wants the candidates to leave. therefore i dont understand why he saves jack, if hes dead then its a lot easier than making him leave.
there are some unanswered questions which will never be answered such as.
why did the others not get on with the dharma initiative?
because they were poking their noses where they didn't belong most likely, trespassing on the island if you will.
how did the dharma initiative know how to get to the island? or figure out that it was important and significant?

far to much to explain, read those links and it explains why. As to how they found the island, they had the Lampost station on the mainland.
why did the others not like the survivors of flight 815?
see the answer to your first question
are the others and the people who were in the temple the same?
yup, all followers of Jacob
why did the others attack the dharma initiative?
because they had the opportunity to remove them

if the dharma initiative knew about the smoke monster (they made the pylons) then why didnt they put pylons on all their research sites?
Good question
why did this evil smoke monster not appear as a main character beforehand? i.e. evil locke or evil somebody else on the island talking to everyone, he only appeared after locke had died and been brought back. so in all the seasons before hand he had just been randomly killing people who werent candidates and screwing around with people who were candidates by appearing as someone they knew. why didnt he just introduce himself before hand like he done this season? he could have became a part of the 815 crew by appearing as someone who had died previously and just became of the group.
all of this was done to build up suspense, which means pretty much all the seasons before hand mean nothing apart from setting up the scenery for the final season.
Not really, all of the previous seasons all added to the bigger picture
I doubt itthe story will continue
Yeh exactly, it was such a minor thing. Half way through season 3 when they were introducing Ben as a kid, he had a gf called Annie. And there was a scene where they were making volcano lab experiements. The never mentioned it again after that episode so I personally never thought anything of it.
So because you never thought anything of it or read into the obvious undertones, it wasn't a big deal? Even though at the time the producers bigged it up in podcasts and interviews? Promised a huge extra storyline having sowed the obvious seed?
The arrogance from 3 or 4 people in this thread is quite amazing. I had never realised there was a special sect of Lost Experts who have a higher ability of knowing things that nobody knows.

oh yeah heres another thing, if ash and these pylons keep the smoke monster out, how does the ash work? i can understand the pylons but ash?
also when the followers in the temple heard jacob was dead, then they started to throw ash all around the sides, why didnt they have it down before? if jacob was somehow stopping the monster then how come he didnt stop him before when he was killing other people.
also the ash never worked at the temple yet it worked in other places, how come? the monster just steamed right through.
