LOST..... How do you think it will end

Meh thought the episode would be better. Some of the action scenes reminded me of a 1960s cop show. Didn't think this weeks was that good.

The candidates can kill eachother, but not themselves.

Locke (or the Man in Black - MIB) can't kill the candidates directly. He also can not be killed by anyone. He needs all the candidates dead to be able to leave the island.

Here's where this theory doesn't quite work for me. Before MIB/smoke becomes Locke he tries to kill various candidates multiple times. Hell, in last episode of series one smoke actually tries to kill candidate number 4 - Locke himself, but somehow manage to loose the duel to an arm grip of good doctor who saves Locke from being minced while being dragged into a pit too small for size of his body.

But of course, back then, we know smoke to be just a guarding mechanism, or security system as Danielle Rousseau describes it, and not very clever one at that, since most of the time you can escape it by hiding in a "cage" between bamboo trees. On the other hand, we also know most of Danielle's original story was overwritten by later script writers in hope no one will notice it doesn't make sense. For example, throughout most of season one Danielle repeatedly says she has never ever seen another people on the island except her crew, all of which is completely changed in later seasons.

Im sure Danielle mentioned the others repeatedly in the first season, them being the ones that took her baby n all :).

Tbh you may be right and the scriptwriters may have slipped up, but perhaps its all tied in to Jacob being alive/dead. We know hes the one keeping smokie trapped, and that hes brought people to the island to test them as 'possible' candidates. Perhaps the losties weren't officially 'candidates' until Jacobs demise, even though he had wrote their names down, perhaps a pre-selection process?

Precisely - she said at least three times how all her crew died, twice that one day she saw the smoke rising above the jungle and "The Others" took her baby. The first episode we see her (episode 9 of series 1 was it?) she says to Sayid that she had never seen any other people on the island, but has only heard them whisper. That'd be - for roughly 16 years of setting traps and living day to day life on the island. Her character maintains that line - that voices and The Others are one and the same - until the end of season 1, when she kidnaps Aaron in hope to exchange it with The Others for Alex, because "the voices" told her to do it.

Perhaps the losties weren't officially 'candidates' until Jacobs demise, even though he had wrote their names down, perhaps a pre-selection process?

They were all predestined to be candidates to the point of the lighthouse clock showing their names and monitoring their homes in pre-crash life? And not just any homes, last homes, but to quote Jack after mechanism pointed at his name the lighthouse mirror - "the house I grew up in, I haven't lived in that house since I was a kid, he's (Jacob) been watching us the whole time, all of us". If the list in cave and lighthouse isn't list of candidates but candidates for The Candidates, that creates even more plotholes.

I would like to know what Sayid's true significance was? In the begining of the series, Jacob told Hurley and the Others that he had to survive, or everyone would die. But in the end, all that happened was Sayid joined the dark side, and the situation that occured on the submarine may have never even happened if it weren't for Sayid doing all the MIB's errands.

Im guessing that Jacob someone knew before he died exactly how things were going to play out (time and space properties of the island:)), it would certainly explain allot and why he said certain things have to happen and why it was so important for sayid to live when he said so. Its as if everything thats happened on and even off the island is like a big game of chess between the mib and jacob...

Rules are simple...if you don't like it, tough. They have been made clear time and time again yet people continue to push the boundaries. You use this forum for free, either follow the rules and stay or don't and leave...[meerkat] simples [/meerkat] :D

We're going around in circles. I've made my views clear and my attitude won't change. If I am in the wrong then I am sure I'll be dealt with as the Mods see fit.

It's a shame because posters like you get endless threads closed as you can't follow the most basic rules. Your opinions won't change, no problem. I can/will and do report anyone I see posting anything construed as discussion ahead of UK air dates.

For the record, I watch TV shows ahead of UK air times and although it frustrates me I have to wait to discuss them here I also have the most simple of character traits...I can read and respect rules ;)

Get off your high horse. I haven't discussed the show, I discussed how I felt about it. That's not even anything like the same thing, and you'd have to be a retard to feel otherwise.

I think Sayid had to live in order to die saving Jack (whom we assume to be the prime candidate after what Sayid said to him before blowing himself up).

That's why Jacob said he was so important...

Quite an interesting episode, wasn't expecting the killing off of some long standing characters. I've never been too fussed about Jin and Sun though, it was a pretty 'meh' end to two pretty 'meh' characters. I was more concerned about Syaid.

Indeed tis my thinking that Jacob knew what was going to happen, ensuring that Sayid was in the right place at the right time. Im thinking he knows allot about how things are going to play out. It's all a game of chess and everyone's moving their pieces into position in anticipation of the others (not the actual others) move.

Not sure what to make of that episode, a lot of it stills makes no bloody sense at all but the end left me a bit gobsmacked, it certainly puts paid to all those naysayers claiming they were just making it up as they went along.

Also MIB couldn't kill Jacob but it's quite clear that Jacob was able to kill his brother and that MIB is not Jacob's brother, therefore not under that particular restriction, so just why did MIB need Ben to do his dirty work for him.
