LOTRO free to play going ahead.

Is there no way to buy these zones as VIP? I want them now so when my account returns to premium I will be able to use them...

Quite frustrating that I cant make the most of the offers!

Nope unfortunately not, as a VIP account already has all the zones they aren't listed for VIP accounts.

Ive just started playing this, I have a level 7 dwarf champion.

Just wondering, have I made a good choice character wise? I want to basically be a paladin, is guardian the correct choice for me?

Thanks

Ok also another question, do I have to pay real money to get a permanent mount?

Or is it feasible to save up points to aquire one?

Its the standard Riding Skill that you need to use a permanent mount (rather than the Basic Riding Skill), for free players that skill would need to be bought through the store (either by real money or points).

I think the Riding Skill is 195 points on the store which is pretty feasible to acquire, on top of that it is one of the things which has been a sale item in the US f2p (which it looks like the EU one will be following so may well appear here on sale at some point) for 49 points , which is very achievable.

I was on last night for a little while and got some Virtues. Now I think I got some, when I hover over them in the circular window I get the store symbol, do I still have to buy them to use them.

I opened up the equipped virtues windows and seem to have two available slots with one to buy but could find how to slot one ?

Cheers.

You have to equip them by visiting a minstrel/bard (lute symbol on the map) in one of the major towns.

Just logged on to buy the evendim zone to find another 500points has been added to my account...I wonder why, makes 2160 free points to far.

Yup I got another 500 points today too, I just assumed it was the 500 free monthly points for having a subscription. Could be something else though I guess. (takes my total now to 6,420 points :) )

Might be the preview event's 500points, I could have miss calculated my first free 1500, who knows. But its definitely not the subscription points unless they like giving it to me for free.

Bah, still no luck with the skeletal mount :( though I now have enough autumn points to buy the other festival mount hmm and theres nothing else I want from them.

I didnt do the preview event. :)

Unless they allocated the 500 points for the preview event at the same time as the 500 free monthly points for having a subscription/being a lifer.

Got my "skeleton" mount on one of my characters so far, just trying to get it on the other 5 now.

Champions are a melee DPS class and can output top notch single target as well as massive AoE damage (the best of any class). They are a heavy armour class which is somewhat odd for a DPS class but are still somewhat fragile when in their DPS stance. Champions have a trait line for tanking which makes them very capable tanks however they do not quite tank as naturaly as a guardian or warden. Most champs prefer to DPS though so champ tanks are relatively rare.

Guardians are tanks, probably most comparable to WoW warriors. They specialise in tanking and damage mitigation via heavy armour and crit defense. They do not provide buffs or healing but are probably the best class to take the big hits from bosses. They of course have a wide variety of taunts and aggro skills to keep the mobs hitting them. They also have some fantastic panic buttons for when stuff goes wrong. They can tarit for DPS at the expense of survivability, equip a 2-hander and put out very good DPS which makes them solo very nicely.

Capatains are a buffing/support healing class. They bring a lot to a fellowship or raid and generally make things much smoother with a wide assortment of buffs, healing, in-combat resses and off-tanking. they also have a couple of great panic buttons. Captains can certainly off-tank but it is rare to find them main tanking an instance/raid boss although far from impossible. The only bad thing about captains is their DPS is average at best and they arent particulalry fun to solo with, even if they do solo quite well.

So glad i got vip when i did :P though i have no idea what to spend points on i think ill let em build up each month.

i really need to start playing agian!! As i keep saying!

I think I'm going to have to try a different class, the Minstrel is actually getting annoying...not because of its skills but the shouts !

I'm already fed up of hearing the little bugger and I've only got to level 12 :P
