LOTRO free to play going ahead.

Btw there is a big quest series in the new zone that is very immersive and provices a nice backdrop to the story which isnt part of the book series. It is called the huntsman and you can find the starting quest in te fortrest area. My kin recommended people to try that :)

Not sure really it just seems so bland and seems to suffer with the "trying to hard to look real" textures.

I don't know maybe its just me expecting too much.

I am just very underwhelmed by it visually.

Yeah its probably down to personal preferences, some areas in LOTRO look utterly fantastic to me (especially for an MMO), I find it one of the best looking MMOs around , Weathertop is one such place that I could simply stand at for hours watching the sun rise and set and the weather changes.

To be fair though, even though I think LOTRO looks great, MMOs have rarely been about the graphics, so dont let looks on an MMO dissuade you from giving whichever one it is a go, especially ones which are free :)

 and i mean really, really

It's an MMO, graphics aren't the key to the game, but for an MMO the graphics are at times breath taking and have very quickly introduced DirectX 11 paths for rendering.

Rivendell is gorgeous and The Shire is pretty as well.

The Old Forest had my jaw dropping the most though when i first played it.

Ah thats true, Rivendell is another of those places I like to stand, particularly if you head up the hill that leads to Misty Mountains, then turn around and look down onto Rivendell and you can see in the distance the zig-zaggy path that comes down into Rivendell from the Trollshaws on the other side.

didnt realise that having an opinion was frowned upon?

The game fails to "wow" me too tbh.

How dare people have an opinion different to mine, of course it shall be frowned upon :p

I didn't mean my statement to indicate any belittling of his opinion, I was just genuinly confused since LoTRO is generally regarded as having a graphical style a cut above many options available in the MMO market. They are also extremely sympathetic of the exceedingly rich lore the game draws from but I do accept I am going to be biased since I love the game and the world it is set in :)

Im just wondering, I bought the standard edition game in a shop a long time ago (shadows of angmar).

I made an account with it and registered the serial key.

I didnt actually play the game though as I could not pay the subscription. If now I sign into this account will there be some sort of turbine points bonus I can spend ingame? Like a loyalty bonus of some sort?

I havent done this myself yet as I cant for the life of me remember my account name.

Depends upon what you are calling "a long time ago" :)

About 1 year.

You might possibly have 500pts then if they have included you in the yearly bonus for old accounts. Failing that it will be 0pts to start with. On the plus side as you bought the game you will be a premium account rather than a standard f2p account.

I'll just keep posting images until you admit defeat :D

I was the same at first to be completely honest, I quit after a few months. That was a couple of years ago, now I've gone back to it and tried again it's god me hooked, can't honestly say why but I really enjoy it now.

There are no more issues on the RP server than any mmo server. The main difference with the RP server is that you need a name which at least sounds Rp, ie. Not calling your character atomic or elfdork etc. Which is frankly common sense anyway. Also you don't have to Rp to be on the Rp server, you just have to be respectful that others may Rp ie. Don't wander into the prancing pony and stand there talking about chuck Norris or WoW or the latest football score in /say chat. Which again is just common sense. Other than that its like any other server but with a high number of player run events which really flesh the game out and a generally more mature playerbase.
