LOTRO free to play going ahead.

Once you're past Weathertop, heading east along the road, there's a big outcropping of rock on your right at one point, with a couple of dwarves standing around outside a tiny door, that's it. The ruins at Ost Cyrin also have an entrance to it on their western side, although this kind of dumps you at the wrong end of the dungeon.

Once minstrels hit level 10 (I think it's 10 anyway) they get a skill called warspeech, which cripples their healing and turns them into an offensive caster, so they can solo really well.

How used to mmos is your girlfriend? Warden might put her off if she's new, it's a bit fiddly to get the hang of. Captain is another one that starts off nice and easy and gradually gets complex and versatile.

Or you could just play two hunters and dps the crap out of everything :)

Scholar is really ideal for someone who levels up a few characters at once (which was me). Otherwise it's a pain to farm mats, especially at higher levels. It's a great craft skill to have though - dyes, potions, hunter and warden oils, books for hunters, loremasters and minstrels.

As mentioned above though, dyes can really give you a boost, keep your spot plants skill up whenever you're not near ruins.

The land around Bree doesn't have a whole lot of character. Head into the Barrow Downs if you haven't already (entrance near adso's camp). Or on to the lone lands (and take a peek beyond to the Trollshaws, though it's too high for you, it's gorgeous).

If you still find those areas bland, then LOTRO isn't for you :)

Funny enough, even though I played Rift obsessively when I got it, I've found myself back in LOTRO lately. Not sure why exactly, Rift has a lot going for it, but I just don't feel the urge to play it anymore.

They did a bloody fantastic job with Moria. They're really only limited by the lighting, which is a bit rubbish in the game generally and doesn't really do the whole 'long dark of Moria' justice at all.

But designwise, it's the most amazing, and longest, dungeon you'll ever see.

If there's one sure way to aggravate mmo players, it's to continually give them quests that send them back to areas they've already been in. Lothlorion did this all the time, and it drove me spare.

Go to the mystical glade and kill ten boars, they're mucking up the mystical aura.
Done? Right, head back there and pick ten flowers, I want flowers.
Oh, you're done! Great, get right back there and water some trees!
Done with the trees? Oh. Right. Well, get right back there and uh.. meditate for a bit, k?

Im not at max level yet but im just wondering if theres any raids or dungeons, similar to wow once you get to a high level?
or are all the items just crafted etc?

Quite a few of them, yeah. Plus all the skirmishes, some pretty good gear to be gotten from those.

If you type /joinchannel globallff you're into the global looking for fellowship channel, you'll see almost constant requests for people for raids, skirmishes and instances.

Myself and a friend started playing a bit again too, been levelling a loremaster. Boring as watching paint dry until about level 35, and then really comes into its own - up to 47 at this stage and thoroughly enjoying it.

Yeah, I found I'd outlevelled Evendim before I'd seen everything I wanted to in it. Actually got to kindred with the wardens faction too, pretty much just through questing.

That Eriador Horse is almost starting to look acheivable, if it wasn't for having to spend time in Forochel :p

I've only ever accessed the store from ingame, but what's the url you're getting it at? If it's a codemasters one it's the EU version.

Doesn't make much difference if you're thinking of trying it anyway, as Turbine are taking the game back from Codemasters in (I think) July, so if you're looking at what it might cost to play, you might as well use the US prices as a guideline.

Loremaster is only really a healer of last resort, it's more a crowd control and debuffer, as well as the main pet class. Still a very interesting class once it gets going though (which takes a while unfortunately).

Captain is probably the main support class, strange but interesting mix of in-combat buffer and healer.

The minstrel is the main healer, but having played one up to 60 it was by far the most boring of the classes I've played.

No vent or mumble unfortunately, but myself (Caldir or Grimbane) or Amdeal will probably be around tonight to get you into the kin. We might even answer a question of two if we can be bothered :p
