LOTRO free to play going ahead.

I've only ever accessed the store from ingame, but what's the url you're getting it at? If it's a codemasters one it's the EU version.

Doesn't make much difference if you're thinking of trying it anyway, as Turbine are taking the game back from Codemasters in (I think) July, so if you're looking at what it might cost to play, you might as well use the US prices as a guideline.

I'd accessed it in game from the character selection screen, Don't mind paying in $ just wondering if it was the correct page for compatability reasons.

Loremaster is only really a healer of last resort, it's more a crowd control and debuffer, as well as the main pet class. Still a very interesting class once it gets going though (which takes a while unfortunately).

Captain is probably the main support class, strange but interesting mix of in-combat buffer and healer.

The minstrel is the main healer, but having played one up to 60 it was by far the most boring of the classes I've played.

No vent or mumble unfortunately, but myself (Caldir or Grimbane) or Amdeal will probably be around tonight to get you into the kin. We might even answer a question of two if we can be bothered :p

Might give Captain a go then, it does sound like what I'm looking for, although I'll probably make a couple of different toons to try out a few classes.

I'll get in touch later this evening to say hi and grab an invite, might bounce a few questions off you if you don't mind. I've played a couple of MMO's so I'm not a complete froob, but it would be nice to have a bit of advice to help me get started.

Cheers lad!

We've not got a lot of Captains. Think we're over subscribed on Champions atm but it doesn't matter what you pick, you'll get in to one of our groups no fuss :). I've currently got:

65 Champion (Elves) - Main, Amdeal
44 Hunter (Men) - Arandeal
30 Captain (Men) - Eldeal
10 Burglar (Hobbit) - Used only for master farming. May level him some day. Think the name is Eodeal.

Tempted to roll a Dwarf Guardian tonight.

As for a Kin invite, I will definetly be on between 7 and 8 tonight. If I don't go out I may just have a session.

I would have said the rune keeper would be the 2nd healer as they can ethier do some good dmg or heal, havent been in a party with my lvl 27 yet so cant say how effective they would be as a main healer though.

I know most of you are on Laurelin, but are there any players out & about on Evernight.

I've got 9 alts on there :D

Lv65 Hunter
Lv65 Guardian
Lv65 Loremaster
Lv53 Runekeeper
Lv60 Minstrel
Lv62 Champion
Lv60 Captain
+others in mid-30's

Look out mostly for Hysteria (Hunter) or Spam (Guardian). Give 'em a shout if you need anything :D

Atlast somebody from OCUK on Evernight!

You can find me on Evernight in my kin 'Chaos' on many of my toons......

Gypo 65 Champion
NoisyGypo 65 Runekeeper
Bayley 65 Hunter

Plus many more:)

Ok, I've installed the game but it will not let me log in. I've used the account name and password I successfully setup here http://www.lotro.com/free.php? I got the confirmation e-mail telling me all I needed was to download the game, login using my account name and password but it just does not work when logging into the game client. When I click the ACCOUNT button in the game login client I get sent to here https://myaccount.turbine.com/ My username and pass do not work here, since it tells me I do not have an account, yet when I try to create an account it tells me to enter a product key, which I don't have either since I signed up for a free-to-play account.

What do I need to do to play this game?

EDIT: I've tried to contact Codemaster's customer support but there's an error message after submitting the service ticket, so not even sure if they are receiving it. It's also kinda confusing being directed to two different companies to try to sort out issues like this :/

If I took a stab in the dark, I'd say that you have downloaded the EU client (which currently is run by Codemasters at lotro-europe.com) but have set up your account with the US version (which is run by Turbine at lotro.com)

Other way round, I registered with Codemasters but downloaded the US client. Waste of bandwidth lol! Thanks for your help dude.

That's fine :). I get asked quite a lot and very rarely hear anything back after I give people the details. Beginning to wonder if they read it at all!

Trying out the different classes at the moment, onto warden now.

Think I will stick with hunter and hit you for an invite once I am certain.

I managed to get everything up and running but after playing a couple of hours I'm not into this game at all. I've uninstalled/deleted everything. Thanks for your help getting things sorted but this game isn't for me.

I managed to download the US version again, so annoyed at myself for not checking. Not all bad though as I found a copy of my old install on a backup drive. Currently updating and will be on shortly. I think I have a few chars on Laurelin but can't remember levels. Think I might reroll anyway just as a refresher as it was 2009 when I last played.

I just tested out PVMP, man it sucks compared to other games where you can grind up your own char from scratch.

Yeah it was thrown in just for the hell of it really. PvP is not one of the reasons I would recommend LoTRO. It's not really one of its aims. It'd be a little like recommending Daoc for questing :D

Heads up, you might want to begin your character migration if you haven't already migrated your character, otherwise, your character may well be stuck.

what do you mean by stuck? as in not getting transferred over?

Not too sure, Turbine said they're extending migration for a little bit due to people being on holiday in europe, after that, i don't know.

There is also a VIP subscription deal where you get charged £80 per year instead of £100+.

I'm not playing anymore but do want to move my toons across. I might look at doing that tonight.
