LOTRO free to play going ahead.

After getting MMORPG Burnout many years ago when I used to be in one of EQs high end guilds (the pos that was Gates of Discord finally finishing me off), I decided to take the plunge back in to MMORPGs as a Casual f2P with LOTRO.

So far I'm loving it. For once I can wander around exploring on my own just completing the odd quest exploring the various places and seeing how they were visualised compared to how I visualised them in my head reading the book. I love the fact that you actually feel that you are involved in the big picture if only a small part. In fact I've enjoyed it enough to actually purchase the RoI legendary pack as that fills in a lot of the world as well as the other bonuses.

BTW is there a OCUK guild for LOTRO as it would be nice to join

Where is the existing account access on Turbine website?

I’ve been unable to begin migration service at Codemaster as can't access accounts page as forgotten password. And trying to reset password for account doesn't work, with two e-mails to Codemasters not providing any help. So want to check if it's been automatically migrated.

I've just logged back in after roughly 6 months break. Anyone still playing on Eldar? I've played since launch & would love some people to play with as I still love the game.

Hit "Covadan" up in game. Miss all my old friends =[

I've been playing for 3 weeks now on Vilya. Level 40 Minstrel, I've spent about £30 on points and pre-ordered the £40 pack. I've got all the packs but mines of moria and north downs.
Really quite enjoying a mmorpg again - I thought I'd never get into playing one after daoc, having given quite a few a go.

Eugh, it's supposed to speed your download, but it's rubbish. You have to have it for the initial install, but once the game's up and running, delete the thing immediately, it knackers your bandwidth whether the game's running or not.

You've spent £30 in 3 weeks!!!! Why not just subscribe for £10 per month? Crazy

The media booster is just the downloader for the game, you can remove it once you've got the installer downloaded.

Okay dude. Theres always a catch :p

Just had a thought, what if the game requires updating, wouldn't it also require this media booster or is updating done differently?

Because he has bought the important quest packs (I think) which means that he can now play without needing to spend any more money to level cap. This works out much cheaper than a subscription if you stay for 6 months or so, since you still need to buy expansions if you are a VIP.

However, I think the best way way for new people to get the most out of this game for the least money is to play for free till you need to buy a quest pack (when you hit somewhere around levels 32-34). If you are convinced you like the game then buy one months VIP to unlock all sorts of goodies for the characters you log in to during this time and also purchase the legendary Isenguard expansion.

This unlocks almost all the benefits of VIP status and gives you (effectively) all the quest packs you actually need for £40 total. From then on you can play for free, so it works out to be a great deal.....

Jesus, Makes me sob walking around Eldar and seeing so few people. Where have all my friends gone! (foreveralone.png)

Any OcUK chaps on Eldar or would it be wise to transfer to a more populated server?

I'm guessing since its gone F2P there are a lot more people in the lower level areas. I have a lifetime sub and I'm looking forward to getting back into the endgame.
