Sort of related I guess. Quite a long read
Wow if true!
Sort of related I guess. Quite a long read
Ahh right ok i did not know that. Does he admit he makes mistakes if he gets called out? Does he also sell prototypes behind peoples back etc?Marquess is fine but he is not infallible and makes errors fairly regularly, particularly when they get out of their lane of smartphones, cameras, apple stuff and mainstream consumer tech.
I also wouldn’t describe him as humble, he just does a pretty good job of hiding his wealth from his content.
He recently reviewed his own $100,000 solar roof and it was littered with errors. They often discuss EVs on their podcast and that discussion is often ill informed.
In the $100,000 solar roof video he actually defended the use of 54,000 kWh of electricity a year. This was one of the errors, we think it was double counting energy use in the data. For context a typical U.K. household uses 3600kwh a year). The point is that he had no concept of how much energy that actually is, particularly when he said he used gas for heating and appliances, including the tumble drier (common in the US).
The sponsored 8k nvidia video (3090 launch) was partially bad and I’ve noticed they have stayed out of gaming and PC hardware content since.
The point is, all of them make mistakes, they are ultimately just enthusiasts like the rest of us and that we shouldn’t take their views as gospel.
I agree but that is on the unnamed employee. I'm not saying they should be dog piled but you don't need a process guide to tell you how to communicate when you have messed something up.Indeed I agree it only 4 days but that's 4 days of going hey we solid your thing and then nothing, no actual response, no back and forth. They had a brief email saying woops we sold it and then didn't say anything else.
Nonsense. You think there should be a director level meeting because an employee made a mistake that is going to cost 1-10k (or however much it would cost to reimburse the prototype. No that is not director level worthy. Ironically, it blowing up like this has made it director level worthy.Yes lots of people have lots of things going on, however some things become a priority and this should have been for the CEO technically and the team to review. At no point should have taken 4 days for nothing.
I would have honestly expected a conference call setup with the team responsible to the CEO if not in person and then the CEO to have contacted Billet within 48hrs of the initial email and then to discuss terms of reimbursement or option to retrieve said item and oh return the 3090ti which has also not been returned to date or shipped even.
See above. It should never have got to the point that a video section was done for said item if any had done their job. Why does the video come out and suddenly they can respond to Bullet within 2hrs of said video but not prior to any of that.
Well yes things get bumped up in priority when there is a *********.It took a fire to actually get some traction.
We have not seen the full email break down from start to end as far as I am aware. So how can you claim this?It is clear it has taken weeks at a time per reply to do anything
I saw the posts in this thread before linus made a response. People were salty AF before he responded. I agree Linus pouring fuel on a raging fire isn't a smart move but let us not pretend that the anger felt now is mostly to do with his response. It ain't.The big issue bing how Linus has been and dealt with it in response after the fact. That is no real surprise that people are salty.
Most of the anger is coming from people who openly admit that they haven't watched an LTT video in years. How can they be tired about something they don't watch?Tbh I'm tired of it being half baked from them as a company and I think others are too and this just been boiling point after all this time.
I wonder what their financial planning was like, maybe they've grown too big too fast and the **** is hitting the fan. Why do they have 100 employees?

Sort of related is a bit of an understatement. This one Twitter posts blows the whole water block fiasco, GN video and its response combined.

we get it mate, we dont need every single youtubers view in here, especially ones just trying to get views out of the drama. Also:
Linus Responded - LTT Drama
Linus Responded - LTT DramaGamers Nexus just made a video calling out Linus Media Group for their errors they have been making in recent videos and other iss...youtu.be
If he had to run a company of over 100 people that a majority had joined in the past 3 years, I would expect things to go wrong here and there.Ahh right ok i did not know that. Does he admit he makes mistakes if he gets called out? Does he also sell prototypes behind peoples back etc?

Does it really?Sort of related is a bit of an understatement. This one Twitter posts blows the whole water block fiasco, GN video and its response combined.
I'm genuinely shocked that stuff like that is happening at any company anywhere, maybe except for Saudi etc.

A number of people in here would be shocked what happens in their own town but are too oblivious to recognise it as anything bad.I'm genuinely shocked that stuff like that is happening at any company anywhere, maybe except for Saudi etc.
Hiding your wealth and being humble are not the same thing. The dude talks about driving a Model S Plaid. Uses Red Cameras and has a robot to take some of the shots for him. I wouldn't say he hides his wealth but that doesn't mean he is flexing it.I also wouldn’t describe him as humble, he just does a pretty good job of hiding his wealth from his content.

Not even surprised though when you see who the higher ups are - they're mostly immature children who have grown up in the LTT space, which is reflected in their content (wasn't always like this).I'm genuinely shocked that stuff like that is happening at any company anywhere, maybe except for Saudi etc.
Does it really?
Seems like an employee who had some problems with some staff, mental health problems whilst not identifying the work they were employed to do, they could not manage.
A lot of screams they just want to bad mouth and get some social media clout, "I have held on to this multiple X post for 2 years, ready waiting to go when the time was right, I saw this bombshell taking off and decided now is the time to get my maximum exposure".
In regards to the grabbing thing, if it was that big of a deal, you should have called the police about the assault and let them start the investigation if your employer did not.

Regarding your bolded comment you cannot use the UK household consumption as a comparison for someone in america. The typical usage for an american home is 10,632 KWH per year. With one state going as high as 14,302kwh.

I got it off the LTT reddit, insane story.I only see one tweet when I click that link, how do you get the rest of them?
If that is all true, and I would question the validity of a ex-employee accounts without corroboration from others.

Probably because you don't have an account. The full series of tweets was in the LTT subforumI only see one tweet when I click that link, how do you get the rest of them?
If you feel your employer is not following procedure correctly, wont start an investigation and you have been assaulted, its completely reasonable to speak to the police regarding the assault.Yes it’s bad, allocations of sexual assault are really bad (to note there is not an allocation against Linus himself but someone at the company).
I don’t know how to respond other than to say ‘well you should have called the police’ is an utterly stupid response to someone who has allegedly been the victim of sexual assault, particularly in the workplace where they say felt marginalised.
