LTT called out

It was , with 2 sponser spots and fake tears from Linus
I get you're half joking, but it wasn't, it was throw every face you can in front of a camera to say sorry but then something positive... and a joke.... pure corporate PR "let's get ahead of the problem" BS

Sometimes it's best to just say sorry and shut up. People have got savvy to PR speak and it just doesn't work any more.

The entire community has been calling for an apology. LMG were never going to get it right, were they? refuse to apologise = they're done. Apologise = 'it's because they're losing money'.

It seems like there are a number of people out there who dont really want LMG to take ownership and actually improve; They just want LMG to burn.

Well, there's a screenshot in the video at 13:27?
Words are cheap, actions are expensive. Putting out a monetised video with an ‘apology’ isn’t good enough.

People are acting like those annoyed want to see the company burned to the ground. While I can only speak for myself, my issue is with the corporate PR response that borders on the South Park "We're sorry" parody. There's not an ounce of sincerity in that video as far as I'm concerned.

Felt like they had a meeting on 'how can we make a sorry video to make us look better' rather than actually being sorry. Seemed heavily scripted and acted, even had some lame jokes thrown in. Like has been said, usual corporate PR response and the video is monetised...

I highly doubt GN will comment on that, they'll keep it to the issues raised in their original videos.

I agree, Steve has tried to keep his videos about the failings at LTT from a technical, published video POV, which is exactly the right thing to do, to report on the rest of it, now, especially the Madison thing, is part of an overall LTT failing, and not 'tech' related.
It is his channel though, and he is free to do what he wants with it.

The LTT apology seems reasonably sincere, but it's just that, an apology. There needs to be follow up actions to address the issues that have been raised. Watch this space I guess.

Out of curiosity what do you think about the second sentence? Do you agree or disagree and why?

That's the bit I have the most issue with!!

"Is a little humour a bad thing?"

Good god Linus, never heard the expression "There's a time and place"? In this case, in this time, YES! it's a bad thing, poor taste when allegations have just been made about SA and Gaslighting. Jesus wept, it makes you look like a bunch of clowns running a 3 ringed circus

It was, throw enough people in to maximise mindshare start with authority, hate Linus, well here's Luke, he's a good dude right, want a women's perspective we have that. BUT don't leave anyone on screen too long and risk watch time, so chop up their parts. Linus is the star, so let's bring him out for the 3rd act.

What on earth are these sexual assault allegations I've seen people bring up a couple of times? I've not seen, heard, or read anything of the sort.

e; dw I found the article.

One of the comments brought up that you can see their eyes moving as they read the script, especially the CEO. It doesn't help once you see it.
Well, it look like they're still tone deaf as always and under the surface haven't actually learnt their lesson:

Funny thing is I thought it would be better if they owned how scuffed their content was in the first response. Yeah we're LTT and we do scuffed content for entertainment first.

Bit awkward to do an apology video later then explain that they deliberately not incompetently scuffed it to be on brand.

I think some of the apology video sounded scripted because it had to be. There are people on camera who clearly aren't used to it.

The new CEO actually gave me some level of hope because he obviously wasn't put in that position for his on-camera personality.

I’ve not watched it yet and reserving judgment until I do.

The way I see it, it didn’t matter what they posted, people will have criticised it.

Apology videos never please everyone or anyone usually, at best you might please a subset of people.

It’s been a day, you are not going to see actions taking effect. This kind of thing takes a long time to perpetuate through an organisation of 120+ people.

I guess time will be the ultimate test as to whether things get better or not.

It’s all very crisis management company. It’s the only course of action for a £100,000,000 YouTuber.
