LTT called out

Your questions are answered of you watch the GN video. Or read the comments that give the gist of what's going on.

GN have always said they'd call out shady behaviour from the tech world when they feel peoples voices aren't being heard. We are in that moment and GN are sticking to their word. The GN video isn't monetised either so nobody can say it's for views or whatever.

GN have done it before with brands and other vendors in their tech news videos, now it's tike to put LTT under the radar after putting up with it for so long.

Why is GN so worried if LTT is mistakenly putting up wrong specs, minor mistakes or what ever even big mistakes. Focus on your own content.

Because a LTT Labs employee on camera made a statement that LTT reviews are better and more accurate than what HuB and GN does. That's why both channels are mad at LTT, LTT started this first when an employee made that public statement so GN and HuB are responding with their own public statement

I agree with this, the video is just weird IMO. I know it’s in response to what a LTT team member said, it just all seems very disproportionate to me. They could have just responded with a statement in a video saying how they disagree, instead they’ve gone full blitzkrieg. Often you have to be careful taking strips out of other people as it can come back to haunt you. Just seems like a pretty pointless video to me.

Good for views on GN part though, nothing like a bit of drama to whip up an audience.

None of that matters any more. LTT had plenty of time to get their ship in order after many instances of their bs being called out but Linus on camera always doubled down and proclaimed how he's got years of experience so knows better than anyone else. The evidence speaks for itself and GN has had enough, and rightly so, as the rest of us have too.

GN have always said they'd be the voice for us, and right now they are sticking to that word.

There is no excuse anyone can post to somewhat restore some definition for LMG/LTT now because the truth is out in a massive public way, and it comes with receipts.
Well i'm not going to look over GN's double standards just because they're calling LTT out. They don't speak for everybody.

GN have admitted to the instances where they've been wrong. Linus has not, at least not genuinely, because the same issues keep happening, even in today's new video...

Data was fine, wrong type of chart used. I dont know why, but it's not the end of the world is it? hardly deserves the ratio its getting, but the video was hardly going to be judged on its own merit so soon after GN's video regardless of how squeaky clean it was (or isnt).

Linus is far more transparent than most of the tech creators. He has some strong and sometimes wrong takes(imo. Ie, the 'trust me bro' debacle) but the idea that Linus doesnt admit he's wrong is... bonkers.

No, Linus' response was that Steve should have contacted him first to discuss it. That is the journalistic integrity Steve claims to have. Steve wants to be accurate, thorough and fair...but without asking LTT for input first. That isnt possible.
Journalistic integrity like contacting a water block start up to see if the product they sent ltt could work on a gpu it wasn’t designed for ?

Well he doesn't, otherwise we wouldn't be here on this topic today.

Aren't they really similar boards? The 4090 is virtually identical to the 3090 pcb isnt it?
I’m sure the GPU water block creator knows which GPU the water block will work on. They didn’t send it to LTT and say “hey, we built this for the 3090 so please test it on a 4090”.

Right, but that doesnt answer my question?

If the retail 4090's are that close to the 3090ti then i can see why one would think the block fit a 4090. I cant see the mounting thickness from a top-down photo like that but assuming it's the same (assuming they measure it....) why wouldn't it fit? why wouldn't it work? Not of this is an excuse for not just testing it on a 3090 but if this is all correct then i'm starting to understand why Linus thought if it didnt work well on a 4090 it wasnt suddenly going to be significantly better on a 3090. Still though, test the right card in the first place Linus...

Did you even watch the video?

LTT asked billet if they could use a 4090, they said “you could try”

It’s later found out (after the LTT video) that there’s a 1mm contact gap with the chip.

Linus then screeches on the wan show that it wouldn’t matter if they used the correct card, block is bad and dumb and he’s not wasting $100-500 of employee time to retest.

Then auctions the block off after being requested for it back.

Sheer scummery. It’s the doubling down on the block perf after being exposed that is the pinnacle of his idiocy

They did, were told it wasn’t tested on a 4090 but did it anyways because … reasons??
Seemingly because the person doing the review didn't realise it was for a 3090Ti, that employee then asked Linus to do another test, on a 3090Ti, and Linus said no because he wanted to save $100-500 on staff fees by not doing so.

No, i didnt watch it. So they found a gap after testing, fair enough. They should have measured it first. And they should have tested it on a 3090ti before that.
