Malaysia Grand Prix 2012, Kuala Lumpur - Race 2/20

I doubt Lewis will be moving. McLaren have proved they can build a competitive car....

I think Di Resta will go to Mercedes GP if a contract there goes up for grabs and he's still around when it does (a few years time). Saying that, I guess there is the possibility he could take Massa's seat, although maybe Kobayashi might get that one.

Di-resta should head back to DTM, its a shame but Hulky over there has out performed him all last season and after that race in Albert Park to it looks like he will this year as well. But early days yet but it does look that way IMO.

Sutil last year?

If there is rain, I really hope it leads to a Merc or even Raikkonen grabbing a win. I'd love to see something shake up the order a bit.

I thought he did very well last year against Sutil, 10-9 to sutil in qfy and 11-8 to sutil in the races. That's hardly getting out performed all season. Considering he was a rookie and Sutil was fairly comfortable there, I'd say he shows promise.

To be fair even JB winning again would "shake up the order a bit" given RBR's dominance upto 1 race ago lol

Also if a unlikely championship winning car wins a race so early in the season, surely that shortens the odds on Vettel winning another WDC ......

Well not really, because we always expected the McLaren to be fast. It's not about the teams who are fast, but the ones that are already established as being fast, if that makes sense. For instance, if Ferrari won, it would be a surprise, given the state of them in Australia, but it wouldn't really "shake things up", because they've always been there or thereabouts these last few seasons. Merc and BadLotus haven't been, at least not for the last couple of years, so that would be more interesting for the season imo.

you remember of course how they started last season......:)

The good news is that in the last few seasons McLaren have been known to out-develop everyone during the season, IF they can do that again it should be a very good season for them

Its not like we could really read anything at all into testing times, so no one was sure (and not to mention McLaren being the Only team with a pretty nose, also putting something into the mix in regards to speed of the relative cars).

lets be honest, vettel has yet to win a championship which means something..... ie a fight for it. not just a walk over.

I am fairly sure not leading a championship for the whole season and then winning it on the last race doesn't count as a walk over.

I'd hardly call 2010 a walkover...

The RB might have been the fastest car but there were many problems along the way, team mate issues, unreliability etc.

And Webber as well in 2010, Seb never even led the standings until the final race IIRC, it was their own failings that let Alonso in with a chance though, but he was there to punish them :)

Yeah Seb only lead the 2010 WDC once, at the end of the final race. He was the 3rd favourite to win the title going into the last race, and was in one of those situations where he needed to win and hope other drivers did badly. Hardly a walk over.
