Man city escape ban! Or did they? [Update 6/2/23]

Reading bluemoon forum (I know) is a bit of an eyebrow raiser mind.

They seem to genuinely consider themselves as some sort of new kid on the block disruptor, sticking it to the big boys and fighting for the “normal” clubs. It's all some sort of conspiracy against poor little City

I'm half tempted to check bluemoon out just to see what that ******* Prestwich Blue is chatting about, then I remember just how much of a cesspool it is

Blame it on United all those titles in the 90’s, 20’s made them do it.

Did they honestly think they'd get away with it? Mind boggling.

Risk vs reward. Same as every business. Who cares what the punishment is if it it was worth it. Would they have been able to compete as quickly, win as many trophies or get their project to where it is now without cheating? What was their punishment reacently? A fine. A fine for a club with bottomless wealth. A fine because City didn't co-operate and certain things had timed out.

If even City get a 30-40 point deduction, a transfer ban and a fine they will simply strike a deal to reduce the things that really matter ie transfer ban and potentially points reduction and that will be that. City will have the best lawyers making the PLs life hell. They will almost certainly strike a deal.

So you think what happened at Derby had nothing to do with the owners?

It wasn't just a different scale, it was completely different circumstances. The only point I'm arguing is stating that it's "Not really anything to do with who owns them".
I think you miss understood. I was on about it nothing to do with who owns them ei. You mentioned state owned. Any owner could do this.

Depends though. A 50 million for three years fine would blow a hole for future FFP calculations. You can’t amortise a fine, so it could have a big impact along with strict regulation of their sponsorship deals (matched to sales figures, support and success on pitch). Ie no shirt deal worth 50% more than the highest ever when there is no way to justify it apart from corruption.

I'm not really sure what point it is you were making then. That's like saying, anyone could commit murder.

Do you honestly believe the chances of this happening are exactly the same regardless of the type of ownership a football club has?

The only other club with 100+ breaches as far as I'm aware were Chelsea with UEFA and oh look, it was another oil money loon with extremely sketchy connections.

Why is everyone so convinced that City’s lawyers are so much better than the premier league’s? I’m sure the premier league can afford elite lawyers themselves

The funniest one on Blue moon was the fan who thinks it will be sorted by the UAE government contacting the PM and warning it will threaten diplomatic relations and inward investment if any prosecution goes ahead. Talk about above your station.

I doubt they will be better but if City can make their life miserable, drag this out, pick some holes in parts of some of the claims then the PL might think it better to strike a deal. Who knows. My fear is that after the last time City were punished we will get a repeat of that. The PL are also in the process of releasing their new White Paper on the league and this could delay it, make it harder to implement for various reasons.

I just have very little faith in any justice being served where the wealthy are involved.
