Enjoying it so far. Looks like the RAF were just there to get slapped though.

Not bad, at least unlike For All Mankind there's a fair bit of action. Pacing a bit off in the second episode I thought, the "mission" ought to be the climax of the episode not towards the beginning.
Just hope it doesn't start getting bogged down with romantic tosh, focus on the war story.
And yes I agree, t's going to be Yanks won the war, just got to look at the "yoiks tally ho" Biggles stereotype they trotted out to represent RAF aircrew.

Enjoyed the first 2 episodes but its missing that stand out actor line up so far, it certainly makes you appreciate what Damien Lewis, Ron Livingston and even David Schwimmer brought to the table with BOB, or maybe its the lack of build up of most of the cast, it kinda just throws them at you with little to differentiate you from them all.
BOB ep01 really set the story in motion for the rest of the series and leaves some impossible boots to fill for those to follow, that was a master class in a season opener, so i wont be to harsh on this for now.

I was thinking the same, though I might be showing my age as I know none of this cast save for the Saltburn chap in MoA. Literally everyone in BoB I'd seen at some point (hell Malarky is in ted!) so it was always going to be a difficult act to follow.

I don't feel invested in any of the characters yet, they all seem mainly forgettable. I don't think it helps that they are (for obvious reasons!) all wearing oxygen masks so...
I had no idea who it was.

I enjoyed it but the aircrews behaviour is a bit strange. Would they really have driven under the wings of the bomber in a jeep as it was taking off?

I love BoB and have probably watched it 10x times since release. The Pacific was good but multiple stories as opposed to watching one unit throughout didn't quite hit the same.
Am excited to see how this does but apprehensive as it is the American view of the Battle of 'Britain'.

Think I'm gonna give this a few more weeks and try again as I just couldn't get into it.
I didn't even make it through the first episode as the acting just seemed off / too forced.

Suppose it was too much to expect it to be another BoB, but I'll still carry on watching it, after all, WW2 TV dramas are still as rare as rocking horse poop.

Really good first half of ep1, the cinematic sound and visuals really pulls you in. Reminds me of BoB and others like it for sure. These are shows you simply need to watch on big speakers with all the lights dimmed to get the immersion as they've done it so well.

Yes and No. It's showing the US perspective at the time rather than a more neutral "in hindsight" historical one so it's fairly obvious that the US opinion at the time (historically correct) was very much "we're here to win this and we're braver than you by flying in the Daytime" whereas the reality was that, due to our far low numbers, we were forced to avoid losing as many aircraft as we could, which meant flying at night which the USAAF, with it's massive amount of men/material, felt was more cowardly.
In reality however, both sets of people were tremendously brave and both sets suffered unreal levels of casualties, but I don't think this US funded and made for TV show is going to be willing to be that objective as it's not a "in hindsight" show but a "this is how they thought at the time" show, which makes the USAAF thinking that they are the prime star winning the war single handedly more accurate.

Yes as noted earlier, the RAF airmen were basically Biggles, Ginger and Algie (can never remember the name of the 4th team member), all talking like Codsworth out of Fallout 4. Only thing missing was one of them having a monocle.

Half way through the first episode. Good so far. However, there is one thing I can't quite put my finger on, which I will try to explain after my thoughts on The Pacific.
The wife got my the BluRay steel box of The Pacific as I have not seen it since its release way back when. I remember watching it first time, thinking, this is no BoB, BUT it is good in its own right. Now, having watched half the series this last few days since years ago, The Pacific, to me, was a little too 'Hollywood' compared to BoB. The love story didn't bother me, it was sort of needed, but could have been cut shorter but why does it need the sex in it? Did it try to tick a few boxes that were relevant back when it was made? BoB had a sex scene (maybe 2, Holland?), literally a few seconds of boobs, OK, fine. The Pacific scenes where too long and ruined that episode for me. That out of the way, the rest of the series was great. Not quite up to BoB standards, but what is? the acting in The Pacific was nearly as good as BoB, but there was a feeling its was over acted in some places. Whereas BoB, the cast seemed as though they didn't act. It all seemed so natural. Not forced.
this is where I carry on about MOTA.
The acting is, dare I say it, theatrical, hammed up, over acted. It doesn't sit right with me. Is it because the actors seem as though they are from a modelling agency? Compare these actors to BoB actors, maybe TP actors too, its night and day. BoB had a mixed bag, attractive, ugly, young, old, personalities. Arrrgh its a hard one to explain.
Not knocking MOTA as I am literally half way into episode 1, but I can't get over some of the acting. Not saying they are bad actors, just saying, it seems 'off'.....
that said, I will continue this show and carry on watching The Pacific in between. Once all done, Band of Brothers again.

Just watched the first episode and I am already hooked in to this . I didn't really get in to the Pacific but long this one so far. Need to research filming locations etc and see what happens through the series re American and British. They seem to slate us which I do not like
