My views on Islam, 'respecting beliefs', and religion in general have been altered considerably by 'Everybody Draw Mohammed Day'. At first I felt people were just being cruel because 'they could', but I have come to understand and somewhat agree with the reasons behind the cruelty. The cruelty is not aimed at the average Muslims (who are generally nice), but to those fanatic/extremist/fundamentalist who have bullied their way to become the face of Islam in the worlds eyes. It's a big middle finger up at those bullies, to say you can take your death threats and shove 'em, we're not having it, and at the same time it's a rude awakening to the average Muslim, to say they need take responsibility for who they allow to represent them in the world arena.
