McDonald’s general discussion

Wrong thread?

KFC moans are in here :p

Nah I was replying to the cost, Mcdonalds and KFC are pretty similar in cost, a "meal" at either is running you about £7 these days, stating that really for not much more you can get a plate of food at Wetherspoons with a beer.

You can get a chicken jalfrezi in Spoons for about £11, with a beer, and they are pretty flexibile about what beer you can get with it, for example, you can get a 660ml bottle of Brewdogs Elvis Juice, which is about a £4 drink. If you take that off the cost of the meal you are getting your Jalfrezi for about the same as your mcdonalds.

Thats for a sit down meal, and if you use the app its served to your table.

Its even cheaper on curry night.

Can't fault the value, but then you have to sit in spoons.. Ewww!

OH I don't know, sometimes sharing the same place with the local alcoholics, Columbian marching band powder fans, those single mums called Chlamydia with their AC/DC (or LOD = Lack of Discipline) kids, with the chance that Bud hasn't set the steam oven to the correct temp, just cannot be beaten.

I see the OCUK fast food crew are feeling superior because they eat in McDonald’s and KFC rather than Wetherspoons!

Wetherspoons is about the only place I drink these days as you can get a lovely pint of real ale for £3-4.

Can’t knock their breakfasts , curry nights and steak nights for the prices they charge either.

I’d much rather an eat there than McDonald’s! Though I do like the milkshakes at McDonald’s when the machine is actually working!

Weatherspoon's is actually my go to for a quick/cheap meal out over fast food like McD's.

A Weatherspoon's kitchen works a lot like a McD's, there is the absolute minimal amount of cooking done possible, its all about minimising labour and getting food out as quickly as possible. Almost everything is pre-made in some way, the exceptions are things like the fish for fish and chips is battered in the kitchen but most stuff comes good to go and is re-heated.

It's fine if you accept what you are getting is a microwave curry/rice ready meal in a dish with a long life nan bread from a packet. Don't get me wrong £11 including a pint isn't bad value but it isn't good quality.

Yup! Choose a steak/burger or as you say fish and chips. Every thing else is a ‘ping’ job.

Edit: you can get that with a bottle of Brewdog Elvis Juice, they sell that as a standalone drink for £4.84, so if you knock that off the price, how much are you paying for your food?

That's the price as of today in the Wetherspoon in Fakenham Norfolk.

Sorry yea, I've been derailing bit with Wetherspoon promotion.

Mcd's related I had their chicken burger McCrispy BBQ smokehouse on Saturday on the way back from Duxford.

I used to think McDonald's chicken burgers were ok, this was not.

I'm only joking with you, but do get your point.

ps I Google Earthed that Wetherspoons and the Limes looks half decent outside.

One thing I can recommend from my collected breakfast yesterday, is to not attempt to eat the breakfast roll cold and 8 hours later :(

I'm sure I had the chicken not that long ago and it was ok, but didn't make me think I would order that again.

I know McDonald's use their own ketchup and mustard but has anyone worked out what approximate commercially available equivalents are? I really don't like English mustard so I know it's not that. We have burgers from time to time at home and I'd quite like to match what McD put on them (without the awful pickle).

Isn’t the mustard just standard American sweet mustard like French’s?

Indeed! I'd honestly rather eat a sponge burger from McDonald's full of chemicals, than a microwave curry, with a **** beer from spoons, having to sit in a room full of crackheads and people smelling of bumhole.

At least with McDonald's, I can sit in my car, smelling my own bumhole.

Had a quarter pounder no cheese the other week which has been pretty much my goto McDonald's burger for decades now but I don't think I'll be having one again any time soon. Even though it was a custom order (no cheese, extra onion and pickles) the meat was dry and tasteless, absolute waste of money.

The new restaurant designs are horrible, uninviting, cold and soulless. Much preferred the welcoming softer look of the early 2000's.
