Mercedes Benz and AMG Owners

Following on from my posts on the last page, here's the before and after pics of the wheel change.

I had a strong theory that bronze would suit the colour of my car, but I was pretty worried in the time between putting in the order and seeing them fitted. Very pleased with the results.

I dunno how you add photos in this forum, so plain links will have to do.

Their dealers are so far off being good it makes my head hurt.

Average is the best I have for the good ones, utter **** for the rest.
I've never taken my C43 to a dealer, only to a specialist who are pretty decent. If I had a warranty it might be different.

Car is in today for a service with MB Oxford.

Can't wait to see what apparently needs sorting since it only had its MOT a few weeks ago.

How did it go? I never had any problems with them in the time I owned the CLK. Prices weren't much different to the specialist I used down past Newbury and they sorted the balance shaft issue on the M272 without much fuss, despite the car being ten years old at that point.

I imagine they'd possibly try to take advantage of customers who don't know what they're looking for/what needs doing though, like any other business really.

Feeling disappointed from my first Mercedes ownership experience.
Got a 2.5 year old B Class in October and connected car to Mercedes Me app. But then pretty much all the services are stuck in the "activation - pending" state. Most of the services don't matter but I want the map update and live traffic info service.
Mercedes have tried remotely activating/deactivating all services and that's it. I've given them detailed info about specific navigation problems but they've gone quiet on me.

Sadly, my AMG GTR has had a niggling electrical fault that has crippled the car. The battery isn’t charging through the car for some reason, and even if the battery is charged with an external charger I get warning lights after only a few minutes of driving. This prompts a “stop vehicle immediately” warning, then random systems start shutting down, finally culminating in not wanting to change gear and juddering under even gentle acceleration.

New lithium ion battery right before I bought it, then a new alternator 4 weeks ago (after sitting on the car for 2 weeks), now it has been at the dealer for another 2 weeks with no end in sight. Unfortunately it appears Mercedes dealers are just as bad this side of the pond, as communication has been absolutely abysmal.

I can see this being a very short ownership, which is a crying shame because the GTR is sensational to drive. The dealer has had the car for longer than I have now!

Sounds like the start of my R8 experience and B7 RS4 experience and my second E46 M3 experience. It is bloody tiresome, but if you can, stick with it. The car is hugely rewarding, not least as everyone thinks its just a big lumbering V8 Mercedes like most AMG's (and Clarkson's SLS road trip back in the day didn't help) when it is a quicker track car than a 991.1 GT3 RS if that track is the Ring. Love mine, very much a me car but we are all different. Front end is incredible on track and road.

It's an incredible car, and out of all the things I've owned, probably one of the very best to drive. I really want it to work out, so I'm going to give them the chance to resolve it again. Fingers crossed I hear something in the next few days.

To be honest it went ok.

Serviced the car. Managed to screw a tyre up since the MOT so they pointed that out.

Annoyingly its leaking oil now from the Oil Cooler seals.

After a bit of a chat they have agreed to do the work for a a reasonable price. The after sales manager i spoke to was a top bloke.

He understands i can do most stuff myself, but this something easy on my OM642 engine. Its a common problem, and pita to sort cos the oil cooler is hidden in the V so you gotta remove both intakes etc. Time consuming job to change a £10 part

Wife's SLK giving "auxiliary battery malfunction" on start up, goes away in seconds and no problems

Likely to need new Aux battery or may it be down to the temps?

The other thing is she is a mobile care worker so lots of short trips, maybe a good run might sort it

That must cost a bit for her in fuel ?

Brake light out - went to 2 garages - couldn't fix it. No fusebox on car need auto electrician apparently how much is that going to cost just for a broken bulb

Took the E43 in for service yesterday. Very average experience overall. 3 hours to complete. No mention about my service plan having expired or warranty expired. Keen to get me in and out.

Getting this delivered tomorrow, can't wait. First Mercedes in a number of decades. (Last was a 190E many moons ago)

On the same note, They called me Friday to say the Oil Cooler seals won't be done till today as its taking longer than anticipated. Was expected to be done today.

They then called me back, originally they found a slight hole in the rear subframe. Quote me £2000 to replace it. Anyway they have spoken to Mercedes and apparently they have agreed to replace it for free if i leave the car there till Thursday. So i'm not gonna argue with that.

Whole new subframe fitted for free, Oil Cooler seals replaced for labour costs. Sounds like a good deal. They must be in the Xmas spirit.

Just had a w205 c63 estate delivered earlier this week. Overall happy with it, but something that’s bothering me is the wheels. I can help but think they’re not the genuine items as it’s like the offset is wrong for the car and they stick out almost to the edge of the arches. Can’t see any spacers either.

Tyre sizes are 245/35/19 on the front which looks fairly stretched and 265/35/19 on the back which looks a bit less stretched.

Photos. Any thoughts as to what they are?

Yeah oil cooler seals are a proper PITA on the OM642. You have to remove pretty much everything. Them saying they'll do the job for "labour cost only" isn't really them doing you a favour - it's 9 hours labour (£120+VAT?) just to fit £50 of parts :p! How much are they charging you for labour by the way? I've had the job done at a very good specialist who does them day in day out, for around £770 all in. They should replace the oil cooler seals and a whole host of other seals and bolts along the way if they're doing a proper job.

Interesting to hear that they're still replacing rear subframes FOC. I've got a W204 and my partner's got a C207 - both of which use the same subframe and which apparently corrode away. I've got my car booked in for the airbag recall in March so hopefully they'll do an inspection as part of that.
