Mercedes Benz and AMG Owners

Can anyone recommend a good place to bring the C Class for servicing around London? It's 1 month overdue, mileage at 75k. I don't want to go to Mercedes as they'll charge a bomb. Cheers!

You could always ask them? A lot of these premium manufacturers do fixed price servicing now, and it isn't actually that expensive.

I have run the vehicle through our online service system and it is showing that an A-Service is now needed. The price for that is £232.86, we also need to replace the Brake Fluid which is £93.60, Air Filter which is £67.44 and the Fuel filter which is £134.40. All totalled coming to £528.30 or £578.30 if you require a loan car or a collection and delivery service. Below is a full list of the work carried out on the A-Service.

I've been quoted £528.30, some might pay that, but I'll look around and see what I can find.

These two places below are quite reputable

Its Mercedes, what do you expect. I have never known them to be anything other than an absolute rip off in all regards :(

I've paid that to HIRE a Mercedes from a commercial rental firm, that's a complete ripoff for a courtesy vehicle at an already not cheap main dealer.

£50 collect and deliver?! 60 minutes work tops for a minimum wage driver!

Wayne Gates who are quite reputable on forums and have been getting good reviews are quoting me £402 for similar work.

Servicing, replace; brake fluid, air filter and fuel filter.

Below is the rest of the email from Mercedes regarding my inquiry about servicing, it does seem like you get a whole lot more for what your paying at Mercedes than Wayne Gates who are independent.

They are an absolute joke, bloody rude IME too when they realise that you dont have a new model and are not likely to buy one. I can only base this on a couple of dealers (3) who ive dealt with over the years but it seems consistent.

I love (some of) the cars but i would never consider using Mercedes for anything, IMO you need a proper specialist available or dont bother at all.

Wayne Gates seemed good when I used them for my SLK brakes earlier in the year. Access to their yard can be pretty tight though, especially if you're used to the open expanses of main dealers!!

I've just had a look at some of the reviews for the other place http://www.prestigeperformance.co.uk/ there are some awful reviews lol

I'm gonna keep looking for some alternative places to have it serviced, any suggestions welcome, thanks.

Any specialist that does manufacturer standard servicing should use the check sheet from mercedes. My specialist said that A/B/C etc are just different checks that total different labour times. My local dealership wanted to charge me nearly £200 more for an A service even with me supplying fluids. Needless to say I went elsewhere.

I had a 'B' service on the CLS and used BMERC in Barnet. Also used them for servicing on my E46. They do a free collect/drop off etc if you are reasonably local.

I've also used Prestige Performance in the past when I had the E46.

Both are decent.

On a slightly different note, I changed the front brake discs and pads on the CLS last weekend. The old ones were definitely due replacement as the previous owner had left the car standing for a fair while and the corrosion had caused significant damage to the inner side of the discs.

Went for Pagid stuff and the 360mm discs are not light at 15KG each!

Discs ~£60 each
Front Pads ~£70
Wear Sensor ~£5

Not bad for a 55 AMG compared to other cars really!

Rears to follow soon :)
