Metro: Exodus [E3 2017]

Preordered today via CD Keys. Really don't care which store it's on tbh.

This is the key factor imo, how much the person wants the game. If I want a game then I just don't care what platform its on. If they announced that Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC was only coming on Epic, would that mean that I would refuse to buy it. Hell no, of course not, as its a game I would want. I have enough doubts about Metro Exodus that I'm going to wait for feedback upon release before making a purchase decision but if the feedback is good then it being on Epic isn't going to stop me buying it. If the feedback is only so-so then I may wait for patches etc and by then it might be on steam and I would end up getting it on steam probably but if the game is good enough that I want it, the platform is irrelevant to me.

If I hadn't have pre-ordered the game from a cd keys site, I'd just wait for it on sale now. Just can't be assed with yet another store front. Almost all my games are on Steam, it's amazing for game management, forums, reviews, modding etc. Epic is just so stripped out. Also what happens if Epic tanks in a year or two, do we lose all of those games and access to them?

True... a lot of people don't buy new releases when they do come out on Steam because if you already have a huge backlog of unplayed games then you might as well wait... you'll pick it up cheaper, you may have better hardware by then, if it has a shaky release it'll hopefully have been patched out etc... It's not as if it's a multiplayer game where you'll miss out on the critical mass of the playerbase by not playing it right now!!!

But of course, people have different criteria and value thresholds and are free to do what they like - I hope the launch on Epic store and onwards goes well and smoothly for everybody who just wants to play the game hassle free, but I also hope the sales figures are terrible and backfire on the developer for being so greedy

Worth noting that if you don't actually care what store your game is on then you will be able to sell your Steam key, buy the game on Epic store, and make a tidy profit.

Am i missing something (or are you posting from the states) because last i looked the UK folk are having to pay the full steam price and not the discounted us price :(

People are willing to pay a premium to have the game on Steam instead of Epic (the entire reason Epic wanted the scummy exclusivity lockout) thus the Steam keys have appreciated in value.

Yeah, people get weird when it comes to games no longer available on steam. I remember steam gifts of Mafia 1 selling for the equivalent of over £100 before it got returned. I haven't seen what they're going for but I wouldn't be surprised if you could make a tidy profit.

It is only 1 year exclusivity, so I will wait and if it turns out any good buy it on steam. By then it will be much cheaper and the bugs ironed out, works for me as it is not a must play game. Unless it turns out to be a really good must play type of game, I might just be skipping it altogether due to this scummy move.

Epic keep digging a hole for themselves with this exclusivity rubbish. Instead of spending the money on improving their launcher, they do this. All they are doing is making people dislike them more.

That's just spiteful really, also, who is greedy? valve or 4A Games?. It is reported elsewhere that Epic undercuts steam with new store that gives game developers more money, it's just business in a competitive market.
