*** Microsoft Windows 11 Thoughts & Discussion Thread ***

Up to now the only thing annoying me is no way to adjust the taskbar size (without registry tweaks) no biggy but nevertheless a short sighted setting by MS devs.

It's easy to bypass all this TPM and minimum spec nonsense, just replace the install.esd/install.wim on a Windows 10 install USB with the install.esd from the Windows 11 Pro Build 22000.51 x64 ISO. Then simply use the Win 10 installer. (I used Ghost Spectre 2009.21H1.X64.GHOSTSPECTRE.(W).ISO)
(No need to convert the install.esd/install.wim like some online guides suggest!)

All I can say is 3rd party start menu's, please hurry up, M$ get worse with the design.

StartIsBack++ should be compatible soon if not already (not had a chance to test it)

Honestly, for me using Bypass.reg is just as simple and it beats messing around with different images. I'm not saying my way is better than yours, or vice-versa - but it's quick and easy to import a .reg file from a command prompt within the installer.

I've tested StartIsBack++ this morning - it works to a degree, but crashes when I right-click the Start menu to access the properties. I'm also intrigued by the "endgame" comment in the changelog.

Didn't work when I tried the latest version, it installs but just cause explorer.exe to crash. It crashes then auto restarts and crashes again forever in a loop. Windows works fine once its uninstalled though. Hopefully there will be a Windows 11 version as I use it all the time on 10 as it quicker to use than the default one but I use both start menus equally as they both have their pros and cons.

You do realize that Microsoft has stripped the requirements in the first release candidate don't you?

Yup same for me

I was going to tweak the start menu but after using it a while it seems quite good to me so will just be slimming it down as much as possible and leaving it as is.

Anyone had issues with videos/streaming? I'm on 900mb dl and youtube buffering on 720P videos/can't even watch a discord stream

I am having strange issues with sound, happen when the network is loaded. think I will uninstall/reinstall the nic driver. I had what looked like duplicate devices in the device manager lisr, i uninstall them then used scan for hardware changes. This seemed to make some things better(mouse/keyboard). Event viewer is messed up for me though.

Not on the Windows 11 Pro Build 22000.51 x64 ISO I got my hands on!
I tried the ISO @ stock and it refused to install, then I simply dumped the install.esd into a spectre win10 USB pen and it installed Win11 no problems!!

Thought I'd see how well Windows 11 runs on just a dual core, so decided to install it on an old (10+ years) HP laptop. Run's really well, had to find a good few drivers though but that was quick and easy thanks to Snappy Drivers :-)
