Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

Yep, I kinda want one after watching the vids. Looks to be very good. Ain't gonna be cheap though.

They do look very nice dont they? :)

£1k for the M480 I would imagine. DJI and the others would have to sort something out sharpish when these are released.

Anyone see the Phantom on the news carrying a flag over the football match? idiots are spoiling it :(

This will contribute towards the end of the situation we're in now. People will see this on telly, get ideas and it'll spread. Fast forward a few months / years and we're going to need a licence and a designated area for flying.

I can't imagine they would just ban multirotors either. It's heading to a full scale clampdown on all RC flying, meaning the guys flying planes and gliders who have had nothing to do with the rise of multirotor idiots will be affected too. And that's going to suck.

Yep, and one of my colleagues in the office saw a bloke launching a phantom outside the abbey in Bath last week. If any of you have ever been to Bath, you will know how crowded this area gets with tourists. And it was windy, so windy in fact, I decided against my lunchtime fly!

The world is full of idiots alas.

I'm looking for a drone that's got inbuilt/substantial prop guards, similar to the Parrot AR, but a little more advanced in that it takes a normal controller (T8J) etc. Doesn't need to carry a camera either.

Any suggestions?

May not strictly meet the second criteria, but what about a DJI Phantom with the DJI prop guards?

Have a Phantom already but no, not really, needs to be smaller/cheaper, preferably with... hmm how do you explain it... level landing gear? ie The landing gear is the prop guards/bottom of the drone itself, rather than feet.

What size/cost Russ? The X4 has a prop guard add on. There's also a few other X4 sized ones with them built in. If you step up to 250s then Radio C do carbon prop guards you can add to a frame. Or... why not just a Parrot?

This looks interesting

Got a pop-up saying I can have it cheaper........clicked on buy. Just over £15. Ill probably strip my 250 down and put the parts in this frame and add the 2 extra motors and esc.

A mate linked me to that. It looks great. The devil on my shoulder keeps telling me to do it, but the angel on the other side keeps reminding me I can't fly and that would just mean I go through props and motors 50% quicker :p. My quad is still in bits after I almost wrote it off trying flips.

I know where you're coming from, but you only live once :)

Isnt the Hubsan X4 meant for flips?? :D

*edit* Speaking of the X4, Ive replaced the damaged motor and its now flying again. Took about 15 minutes to do.

Have just pre-ordered one of THESE :)

If it flies anything like my SuperX, it will be immense and will go on the mini hexa.

Pre-orders get a free OSD.

With currency conversion and postage, came to the princely sum of £98.38.

God knows how long it will take to get halfway across the world but I'm just gonna forget about it and when it turns up, it will be like Christmas. Well, it probably will be Christmas :D

Yeah, I could imagine that one breaking quite easily. Doesn't look very strong!
