Multirotor, multicopter and quadcopter discussion - The Drone thread

What - the two vids I posted? Nope - that's a Phantom 3 Standard. :)

I do have an X8C as well, I ran it using a Foxeer Legend action camera as the standard camera was utter guff. :p

Just found on HobbyKing a few old unpaid orders. must have been when lipos on offer or something.

Just processed one for 6x 6s 10,000. Worked out as £42 a lipo posted. Pretty good as they are £70 each currently

still looking, really want one.

is there any which are light weight, can easily be put in a standard rucksack and not fill it all up, still gnat room for like coat, food and water bladder in there. uses phone as screen for fpv, can handle wind and generally isnt poop. flying time not to much of an issue and has return to land feature. preferably for around £200.

Anyone in the northwest (and further if you wish to travel!) is welcome to come and try our FPV track on our 3D open day.

come and watch some of the best pilots in the UK and have fun on the track :)

DJI Phantom Pilots here - what tablets are you using? I tried an iPad Mini 1st Gen but it was way too laggy video feed wise. I'm now looking at either an iPad Air 1 or iPad Mini 2, both cellular. Anyone using one? Currently using a Tesco Hudl 2 which is actually pretty good but I'm fancying an Apple tablet as I kinda prefer the DJI Go app on iOS rather than Android.

Curveball possibility is the Nvidia Shield K1, supposed to be pretty good also. My budget is @£200 so I'm firmly in the 'pre-owned' market. ;)

Mmmmmmm a phantom isn't heavy...What are you wanting to DO?

Something like a Parrot (Be bop maybe?) might run off your phone, I know they do some which you actually use your phone to fly it as well.

Im using the Nvidia Shield tablet with my P3P. It works really well, but only downside is you need a sun shield when in bright light.

You should be able to get the K1 for around £150.

Anyone have a Spec Me list for a DIY drone that can accomodate a GoPro/clone?

Want to build one myself but all the spec list I've found doesn't say whether it can accommodate an action camera.

I am using an ipad pro 7".

Really nice picture, no lag.

That depends on all sorts, the weight of the quad compared to how much the quad can lift, the amount of thrust etc etc

So you are wanting to build one from scratch then?

Take it out when hiking and capture some videos/pictures, saw this last night certainly small, no idea if it would be any good

That is just the frame mind, you need to buy the motors/escs etc etc.

And it's a tri copter, so no idea how it would effect smoothness of pictures/video.

Yup, I don't mind buying kits and adding my own electronics though :)

Saw a few kits/frames from HK and they're mainly 480mm/550mm sizes, sound about right?

yeah i realise that, all though would need help on the parts especially controller and flight computer.
open to other suggestion, just needs to fit in a standard rucksack with space for my other walking kit and be light enough to not bog me down to much. although if no other suggestions by payday in two weeks, ill probably just go with that.

Depends on the type of quad really but the sizes seem alright.

250/210/180 are more racing type generally. Have you ever built one before? It's not neccessarily a case of buy the parts, strap it to a frame and fly away.

If you have money to throw at it then fair enough. Your issue will be getting a gimbal on it, otherwise it's not going to be very smooth footage.

No I haven't but wouldn't mind giving it a go as a learning experience/hobby :)
