My GeIL 2GB PC2-6400 CAS4 Dual Channel Kit (MY-058-GL) Overclocking Experience.......

Lo there

Hmm after reading, reading and more reading i think im gonna be going for a set of these..

I wanted the G.Skill HZ stuff but funds got me after the price went up again  anyways these look good and after reading all 7 pages i thought at the price they're worth the risk :P could get myself a good o/c pair :D

I think what changed my mind into defo getting these was Cah saying about them being based on the same Chips as the G.Skill Hz... hehe dont worry m8 i won't hold u to it just the last post to make me get what i need ;)

Cheers peeps was a roller costa Thread

Just wondering if you guys might be able to tell me how to test what timings I might be able to get from the memory with a AM2 4600+ CPU?
I'm currently overclocked at 11x256 @ 1.5vcore (bios) and as yet, no problems. I'm currently at cas 4 5-5-15-21 2T. Is it worth to try and get tighter timings?

Can get it booting into Windows at 11x265 but not tested it much, with 1.6vcore and only a standard retail heatsink and fan, I aint pushing it! ;)

From the amount of posts ive read from here and other forums it seems like a 50/50 on if u get stable set or not but thats just my thinking so i hope im wrong..

For the price it is atm and current funds i took the chance the ram will be with me tuesday and i will test it right away.

Let us know how it goes, looking to get some seeing as its fairly cheap at the moment.

Received the ram about 3 hours ago there both stable at there stock speed and timings which is good, I'm currently overclocking my CPU and stable @ 3.2 gigs so i need to keep playing.

So far I'm happy with this ram :) if things get better or worse i keep you posted.

got some of this yesterday...and put in in my mobo replacing the Gskill HZ I bought a few days back. I was running stable with the HZ at 438x8 1:1 on the ram...4,4,4,12. To get the Geil to do this I had to raise the volatge to 2.2...and primed stable for 2 hours before I had to go sleep. Wondering if 2.2 volts to run at constantly is OK or not. Im sure the HZ was only running at 2.0v

How come you replace your G.Skill? i mean i thought the HZ was better, only reason why i went with the Geil was because of the price differnce.. not cussing Geil i got mine running good atm so no complaints i just wanted that HZ really :(

cos its 60£ cheaper at the moment..and I thought I would be just as well with the geil if I could get the same speds and timuing with it...which I have so far

just bought this kit for my new setup GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit seemed like a really good price from here, would have bought the 2Gb kit but funds are tight as ive just bought practically a whole host of hardware for a new system on a budget
hope this memory is good as i plan on using it with an old 805 ive had lying here for ages, hoping to push it to the ragged edge before the Core2 goes in ;)
will post back with results or questions

Hi guys. I know nothing about overclocking and I plan to run my RAM at stock speeds.

Was originally going to go for the Corsair XMS2 6400, but saw the GeIL PC6400C4 and decided to read up on it a little. Most of what I've read here is gobbledygook to me, all's I would really like to know is - would this RAM work with a DS3? and would it run as advertised (4-4-4-12 800Mhz) without having to 'fiddle' ?

Cheers :D

EDIT: I'll be going for the 1GB Kit

most performance ram has two settings, the standard voltage 1.8v and their specifyed speeds at a higher voltage, onthe DS3 you have to set the ram to +0.5v to run it at its nice faster speed

hows 2.3V with this stuff. I seem to be stable at the meoemnt running at 3.6Ghz at 450x8 ....900Mhz on RAM at 4,4,4,12 with 2.3V. I know that the Geil website rates the RAM at 1.9-2.3V...but is anyone else runng this Geil Ultra at 2.3V? I could always lower the timings a bit and go for less voltage but would like to keep the lowest timings if the high voltage is OK:)

Hi All

Just read all three pages of this thread and really wish I had done so before buying the following bundle from OCUK;
Intel Core 2 DUO LGA775 E6600 2.40GHz Retail / Asus P5B Deluxe / 2GB GeIL PC2-6400C4 DDR2 Dual Channel Kit - Bundle (BU-043-OK)!!

Has anyone been able to get there’s working on the ASUS board. I can only get Post and Windows with everything on auto apart from the CPU Frequency set to 300.

I tried setting the CAS and DRAM settings to manual 4-4-4-12 and 5-5-5-15 and it won’t post at all.

If anyone has got these working with the P5B can they please help me out and tell me what else I have to set and where?

Apologies but I’m still a bit wet behind the ears!

I also have a thread going here that will explain a bit more, although I have been learning very quickly as I've read through these forums over the last couple of days!
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17650577

Really want to get this board running properly.
Also have an EVERST report of the rig here!!!!

Thanks

Xray

PS. Everest shows the following 533 MHz and CPU-z shows the following:
