My new Samsung 26" LCD

Mate, the 32" is massive. I originally bought that myself..stupidly not really measuring how much room i could spare. Was way to big, didnt even need to take it out of the box. As you can see from the pics i've posted 26" is perfect for desktop/movies..and x360 eventually.

Something i like about this Samsung over all others is its looks. Although the LG (similar price) was a close second. Sadly, from what the store person said, the LGs were ending production on that particular unit. Very happy with what i have though.

Remember also that both the 26" and 32" screens have the same optimal resolution. Just FYI :)

thanks mate, yeah I think I will go 26" and get a decent GT/GTX to go with it, think thats optimal for me too ( even though I need to get a decent sounds card also before I can hook up my DD amp and speakers / sub)

I liked the LG too, but not sure it had freeview - but was a little more expensive from what i saw, either way I just want to get my hands on the Sammy and enjoy it will post pics as soon as I have it.

although i would have prefered a larger screen also, i decided on the 26".

reasons for this are... although i could stil accomodate a 32" screen in my lounge and it wouldnt appear overwhelming. both the 26 and 32" versions have the same number of pixels, they are just larger pixels on the larger screen. due to this, if you sit too close, the image doesnt appear to be of such a high quality (although it actually is, and you just need to be further from the screen)

very good point, that might have been distracting to say the least - especially with the crappy normal tv transmission until HD transmissions start.

I am getting the shivers just thinking about this set, looks like quite a few web places have either sold out or not displaying stock numbers ( dont you hate that?) so will have to do a little phoning around on Monday

Hi all, great thread that's pretty much convinced me to splash out on a Samsung when I get back from war! I think the 32inch one will be the order of the day, mainly used to watch tele and dvds. I will be wanting to hook it up to my pc though and this is where my question comes from:

My gfx card is a 6800gt with dvi and vga outputs as well as a tv out. At the moment the vga is used with my a vga-only lg 18" tft. The dvi is connected via a converter to a knackered old lg 17 crt which i'm happy to ditch or connect through an old pci gfx card at a later date.

Can I use the dvi output with the Samsung lcd with the vga convertor or will the convertor make for a really bad image?

Is the tv out on the video-card any use with the lcd?

Sorry for noob-style questions, but I really haven't a clue when it comes to tv/lcds/outputs!

It had a red dead pixel in the centre, also had the tearing issue and I also turning it on one morning to find a big black patch in the corner and the TV was boiling hot. Also the quality in general was just crap, I think it was just a dodgy set though. I'll order another once my refund goes through.

Well I have been let down by the people I ordered it from, as my set didnt arrive today - and after paying extra for Saturday delivery as well.

They arent even open today so I cant even check until Monday whats happening - truelly narked off is an understatement of how I feel at this moment.

At least I got my Sony 710 dvd /hdd recorder which is now attached to my old telly for the moment, and I just got my s939 opty and 7800GT delivery from OC themselves so at least I got something this weekend.

I had completely forgotten about this screen, and now you've gone and got me going again
I've got to take the car in for servicing and MOT this month, and insurance will be coming up too. But damn I want one of these :(

I'm currently still running on my Samsung 181T which I've had for 3 years, and surprisingly I'm still quite happy with it. But I'd love to get a widescreen monitor, but also would love to get something that I could use with an Xbox 360 for Hi-def usage.

My main question is, because the monitor is so big, is it usable for gaming / general windows use at a range of 3 feet (or whatever normal PC 'range' is). I wouldn't normally sit 2 or 3 feet away from my TV :D

Ta!

Raider, its completely usable from normal viewing distance. I'm using it now and the 26" version is just perfect. Nice, large viewing area, excellent colours and a low response rate. Couldnt ask for more.
