Need for Speed: Shift 2: Unleashed

That is epic! Just looked over it, found the promo videos for PS3/Xbox, but presume the same promos would apply for PC xD But it's nice that they're giving it away free to the community... Presume it has something to do with wanting to boost Origin DL's, but frankly don't care if I get free stuff... Epic additions... MINI COOPER! E-TYPE JAG! ESCORT MK 1! Some massive wants there!

The SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED Speedhunters pack, available on May 17th, contains two new branches including Drag and Standing mile. Each branch features nine new events, where players will only be able to use the manual gear change so that they can really feel what it’s like to be in the driver’s seat. This means the traction control features will be forced off and the HUD will display a new rev counter and gear indicator. The difference between the two modes is simple – Drag judges the fastest time over a quarter mile stretch, and Standing Mile judges the fastest speed achieved over a mile stretch. Both branches allows for new high-power customisation options where players can create 1000 horsepower engines capable of reaching speeds of over 250 mph.

In addition to the two new game modes, the Speedhunters pack also features fourteen new cars; twelve of which are specially tuned Speedhunters vehicles available to compete in all disciplines:

i installed origin earlier its pretty much exactly the same as EADM anyway , one cool thing is it let me add my SHIFT2 cdkey so i can redownload and install the game without the CD just like valve lets you with there games on steam.

i only tested shift2 though i couldnt be bothered to dig my old EA games out from the garage and see if those cdkeys worked on origins to
 
Had to roll back to 270 driver due 275 causing the game to crash also sli is working for me now maxed out getting 85-115fps

i am leaving my drivers alone now. im on 275 but SLI performance is terrible.
i change the drivers using nvidia inspector like i did for the 270 and the game is very poor when there are a lot of cars on screen or if the track is big [eg the ring] or at night. really getting a little sick of it.
i love the game and have properly enjoyed it, but the lack of proper SLI support is so disheartening.

what makes it annoying is that it worked perfectly well on the 270 drivers.

excellent news. shame its origin only.

i can see this whole origin/steam thing not working well in EAs favour.
personally i like steam, i have over £1500 worth of games on my account so i dont particularly want to start using another service in addition to it.
updates are updates and should be rolled out on any service or platform that the game has been or is currently available on.
 
So you can't get the free content through Steam you have to re-install Shift 2 through Origin?

Already owns Shift 2 Unleashed:
1. Find/Navigate to DLC product details page on store.origin.com
2. From Overlay, select version of base game to add to cart:

a. Packaged (purchased on disc from a retailer)
b. EA Store/Origin Download (purchased as a digital download)
c. Other Digital Download (purchased as a digital download from third party retailers)
3. Checkout (create an account or sign-in if already have an account)
4. Upon successful purchase, will receive confirmation page and email which will include the following redemption instructions:
a. Download and install Origin (for new Origin users).
b. Open Origin and navigate to your “My Games” tab to download and install your DLC. You must have Shift 2 Unleashed currently installed on your machine.
c. Run game to play.
 
Is there anyway to make the AI better?

I'm finding the game stupidly easy even on hard with all aids off, I can drive pretty slack and still get a comfortable win.

anyone remember a few weeks before the release of this game, the videos that said how the AI was going to be intelligent and aggressive?

did they just mean that they wouldn't be bothered to write crash avoidance into the AI code so that AI cars just stick to the racing line and only the racing line even if it means shunting you off?

they called it aggressive.
I call it lazy coding.

no games are ever released complete any more.

I find the Ai goes from lame to pretty aggressive,for instance the nurburgring track with that loan mp4- 12c i get shunted soo many time it funny,and if i hit bad cornor the buggati eats you alive and you carn't catch up.:D
and also if you try to go down the centre when your in 5/6 start position they blatantly cut you up and block you from overtaking..

I've nearly completed the single player game and I pretty much win every race first time, not sure how you're getting eaten alive?

The AI is poor, the pace is weak.

It's annoying because I want a good race but it falls very short, the game is far too easy.

the numerous posts I have in this thread complaining about the shambolic multi GPU support would suggest yes.

my gripe was mainly aimed at the inconsistency of the AI
either they are far too slow as mentioned above my post here ^
or they stay so robotically on the racing line that they will not swerve to avoid collision.
i play with all of my settings set to max difficulty as I do like a challenge and prefer to come lower down the grid and not win everything first go. but its a little hit and miss.

As for AI difficulty I get what you're saying... I lapped the entire field in an endurance race the other day...

Try the Juls mod for harder AI? Just a suggestion...

Personally yeah, I find I have the same issue as rjk for the AI....

Already run it!

I resorted to running road tyres on my cars (where applicable) to slow me down but still walked the races. I wish the AI used a few more tricks like defending their line and covering the apex etc but they pretty much stick to a defined path.

Of course there's also the issue when you do sniff the AI bumper your car spins like a top for no apparent reason.

Still, can't complain at free DLC!
