Needed: Upgrade advice for a Useless individual!

There is no chance of that ever happening ever!!
It's there now - live in fear...

I've been called worse.
Hehe, was not my intention - was trying to make you feel better about my time - but it has been interesting. You're quick to pick things up and prepared to have a go and assess a situation - makes it far easier from my end. :)

You should hopefully feel pretty pleased with your results - you've learnt a lot about your PC over the past few weeks.

I'll let it run until I go on my ride and then just test through normal wear and tear and hope all is in order!
Here's hoping you've worked hard enough at it.

But we have room for manoeuvre with this heatsink - we can push more vCore if needed as the temps will allow it.

All in all, it's looking promising...

...watch it BSOD now i've said that :/

Enjoy your ride with 'the girl' (that just sounds wrong).

If it gets through this stress test without any issues - go onto use and abuse the system when you have time (gaming, browsing, youtube - anything).

Report back - if it has remained stable during the above then we're almost there. We'll only know for sure after it's been running for a week or two without any issues - such as cold boot problems.

Most/all could be cured with a slight bump of vCore - so the solution would hopefully still be simple. The benefits of a better cooler...

i'm not a pro system builder too but as a proud member of
Of course you are - scam adviser would suggest that your pride is running the risk of you getting malware.

But when your second post on the forum is on a thread entitled 'Useless Individual' and then you sign off your post with the link and have it in your sig - I'm guessing you know this already?

Don't click on the link Nathan, it's a known site but has a mix of legit and not so legit software (warez) - plus it violates forum rules.

Then I would clean up/edit posts and you'll be ok. The mods will then ignore it.

also, i've removed all links from my sigs to. sorry again
No problem - i thought you had a different agenda.

i've also edited the post, :(
You're updates/edits are fine now - don't sweat it. I wouldn't mention them again in any of your posts.

Unfortunately, OcUK gets lots of new posts which are geared around clicking on malware sites/advertising - and they get instant bans. So you should be OK now.

Hahah seems to be prying on a vulnerable person I.e me
Is your system still stable after your bike ride?

I would have melted into the saddle riding in this heat.

'My system' has taken a beating from the bike seat
/Winces :s

my system is running fine on YouTube :)
Great - use and abuse with games/apps/youtube over the next week and make notes of any odd anomalies, and post back.

1.3V is usually more than enough for 4.3GHz so hopefully you're virtually there with your upgrade.

A GTX 1060 coupled with a 2500K @ 4.3GHz will totally reinvigorate your PC at 1080p. You've essentially upgraded it within the speed of a new system, for gaming, at the fraction of the price.

Enjoy! :)

Okay, some updates and notes!

There has been only one surprise re-boot, and hat was just after turning it on, think it had a funny five minutes. Other than that, no sudden offs.

There have been a few bumps along the way where my computer has basically decided to stop doing everything and throw a strop, but I'm not sure if it's got worse or anything since before so may be no issue :)

Apart from that, games still running nicely!

Hey Nathan.

On the whole sounds promising. Reading your description there's a slim chance the clock may have reset (doesn't matter if it has). Worth checking and if it has we'll up the vCore a tiny amount if the clock does need reapplying.

What does CPU-z read under CPU tab:
  • Core Speed
  • Multiplier
Open up a browser or app to bump the CPU to max briefly...

Have just checked, Core Speed jumps to 4342.10
x42
Looks like the clock is OK (x43?).

Could you expand on 'decided to stop doing anything'.

As it was doing this before it could be a windows/software issue - does it do in a particular program/environment?

If the frequency has increased we may have to do some tweaking - HWMonitor would be a good starting point to check your MB temps as your other temps were fine.

NOTE: Don't download optional gumph if it has it - always choose custom install deselect google toolbar etc if it has it... (can't remember what/if it has added)
