Netflix: Drive to Survive

the team clapping ecstaticly when Max makes an easy overtake or simply farts is cringe worthy

I know people have commented on it previously, but I never really noticed before how much 'fake' commentary there is, done just for the show. I also wonder how often the responses we see are for totally different things...

the team clapping ecstaticly when Max makes an easy overtake or simply farts is cringe worthy, every comment is just Max amazing, Lewis just sucks.

What do you expect the team to do when Max does and overtake, sit there emotionless and stoic as if they don't give a toss? Does it bother you when Mercedes celebrate an overtake or a victory? If seeing a team you obviously have issues with celebrate bothers you so much then it's time to give up watching F1.

I'm only 3 and a bit episodes in and I haven't once seen anything from Redbull or Christian Horner (who I agree, is a tool) imply that 'Lewis just sucks' as you put it.

My concern going forward into 2022 season is that Max keeps driving the way he does without punishment. Why would he change a methodology that worked and got him the championship? It will require a hard stance straight from the off, and I fear even with Massi gone, the FIA and stewarding are too weak to tackle it head on.
My hope is that Mercedes took the FIA to task over this- rather than spending any time asking for the title to be given to Lewis or anything. I’m very hopeful the first dive bomb down the inside by MV that pushes someone off will be met with a 10sec stop and go. Failing that, you can see from the first corner of the last race that Lewis now knows how to deal with it if there’s a run off.

I'm expecting F1 to make it mandatory for drivers at some point.
Possibly, that’s a strange contract though as Netflix has nothing to do (really) with F1 as a business.

I've often considered it but I'm quite sure now that Horner is PD - disturbed patterns of thinking and perception, what he sees is what is real and has to be so, his view is the only view, everyone else is wrong.
PD?

It's been a major advertisement for F1, bringing in many new fans. Drivers are already required to take part in a range of activities around the promotion of F1 as well as various press conferences so I wouldn't find it that strange.

One clip showed DC thoroughly ****** off when MV was penalised for the double yellows. Guess we can rule out C4 for unbiased punditry and commentary!

Absolutely, it was shocking last year, trying to justify everything and never pinning the blame on Max; then DC is an ambassador or whatever role for the RB brand. Webber is nearly as bad.

Yeah, that's what's worrying me...

Kind of unrelated, but 'MotoGP Unlimited' just released on Amazon, which one review I saw claimed was done much better than DTS.

I just finished ep4, and eps 1-3 mainly seemed to be about Horner showing us how many upper class hobbies he has. It’s becoming very hard to carry on although I do love Gunther.

I usually watch them on day 1 but I can't bring myself to watch this.

The last episode wound me up for obvious reasons but, overall, I really enjoyed it. All the usual criticism of DtS is true but it still provides a unique insight into parts of the sport we don't see. Understand it as a mood piece rather than an attempt at presenting the facts and enjoy it for what it is.

Yeah exactly. It's a nice reminder of what happened last season although for obvious reasons that is also infuriating. Having just watched ep3 with the Silverstone crash the mind boggles why Hamilton got penalised for it :(

It's fun the see the behind the scenes stuff, that's about all I watch it for. Does make me think how amazingly energised these people are. They rock up to a track first thing in the morning, probably jet lagged to hell for the last 2 days, have swarms of fans and cameras following them probably before they've even had breakfast, then straight into it for a full day. I can barely mutter a good morning to my colleagues when I get into the office :p Some people are just built different I guess...

DTS is mainly a entertainment show with editing to distort the truth. Can't see anything of interest in it really. I guess those who believe everything that comes from the media is gospel can be easily influenced by the garbage...

Thanks for the reminder.
Apparently the release has been dubbed over all the native language sections rather than having subtitles as in the preview copies sent to journalists. And is mush worse for it as it's the same guy doing all the dubs and it's awful apparently. Amazon have blamed a technical fault which I doubt but have said they'll fix it back to subtitles.

Yeah, I was just reading about that. I'll hold off for a while I think.

It was subbed in the version I watched? (Also: Amazon, I assume you mean Netflix or is it stream on Prime as well?)

Yeah, just started the first episode up and it's utterly awful with the dubbing... There's no language option other than English and subtitles are either English or Off, so meh... If they'll fix it I'll wait and come back later cause it's just so bad...

Interesting, it's definitely not an option (un-dubbed) here, this is watching on a pc via Chrome so maybe different on other devices?

I doubt it would be a different stream, and it's certainly the same on my PC and on my TV. Obviously I have German Netflix, so I guess it's down to that?

I wonder whether the dubbed version is for the US audience? I understand that subs are much less common and popular over there (feel free to correct me if anyone has spent time there?)
