Netflix here we go again.

Honestly, I'm not sure who you're trying to convince at this point. Using a VPN to spoof you're in Turkey and paying with Turkish Gift Cards. You're wasting your time if you're trying to convince me you're not going out of your way...
I'm not disputing that I registered my Netflix account while using a VPN intentionally, I'm saying that I'm not going out of my way with the payment method because it's the exact same as if it were a UK account, the only difference being that I have a Turkish one bookmarked instead of the UK. It literally takes me 4 mouse clicks to buy a Turkish gift card.

Convince? Are you the law? lol

The way in which people on here get irate about others doing the vpn sign up thing just highlights their lack of understanding on the matter even more. It is absolutely not hard to setup or maintain. People are not trying to "convince" OCUK forum goers of anything. They are responding to misinformation to set the record straight.
If you don't have the knowledge to follow some basic instructions nor have a spare few minutes, it's not for you.
If you believe these corporate animals need your charity and you feel sorry for them and want to keep giving them UK priced subs, that's cool. I don't judge you.
If you are doing it because you morally feel it's right, that's cool again. I don't judge for that. You are the majority so why would we label anyone that does that as silly?
If you want to believe that vpn sign up methods are illegal, that's just funny. And wrong. Educate yourself.

@Jono8 - yes it is fraud albeit not to a criminally prosecution level.
@Eddie99 - accept that it's fraud. Do you care that much? If you did, just stop doing it and if you don't care, get over it and keep doing it.

Can we all just move on or do we have several more pages of "yes it is" and "not it's not" because neither of you are going to back down.

Honestly I am not that cheap to care about the cost of netflix.

There's a lot to unpack in that statement really. In fact it's fairly meaningless.
I mean... where do you draw the line? Define cheap? Netflix is £17.99 a month for premium. Are you saying anything at this price or under is a case of, you'll just pay it? Everyone has a line. You could say it's cheap that you don't buy Heinz Tomato Ketchup so just add it to the trolly yo.
At some point things have to give. In 2023 I would think you would know that. People cut back and make their money go as far as they can in many different ways.

We have to move on because you says it's fraud? It's a discussion forum. The very nature of your posting to shut down others opinions that are in conflict with what you think says a lot about yourself, and the situation frankly.

Why would I accept something that very clearly isn't true? I didn't even have to lie when registering an account as they incorrectly assumed based on IP address, and if I had lied it still wouldn't be fraud as it wasn't for personal or financial gain, it was simply to pay a fair price.

If that is fraud then so is using a VPN to get cheaper flights, so are you trying to tell me all these YouTubers sponsored by VPNs just casually recommending everyone commit fraud and YouTube are saying yeah all good?

No they're Turkish gift cards from Bitrefill, purchased and redeemed with a UK IP address. Once you've registered your Netflix account with a Turkish VPN they ask for Turkish gift cards and I don't think it can be changed without making a new account.

How are you paying Bitrefill?

To me, the cost of Netflix is peanuts. Its not worth worrying about.
I don't have to do anything at all in regards my paying for it, its by default added to my phone bill.

No need for gift cards or any such nonsense.

If the cost of Netflix became an issue to me, I may consider looking for alternate means, but its not, its basically not even of any significance to me and hence I CBA with any messing about.
Easy, hard, medium, irrelevant.

You know that financial gain doesn't solely mean you receiving money/assets...

Are you also using the VPN method to get cheaper Netflix/YouTube etc?

He'll, I'm using VPN to see US programs which is also against TOC, I just don't get all butt hurt if someone calls me out on it

i tried to use the turkish vpn thing for netflix, i signed up, chose the turkish netflix plan i wanted, then was asked for payment, iirc there was no option of paying by turkish gift cards, it just went to an enter your debit/credit card details webpage which i did, then i had to verify a phone number in turkey which there's no way i could find a way to do (the many sites that offer u a turkish number to use seem to be either useless or scams). i think if you're trying this loophole more recently it's not as easy as it once was. certainly cba with the myther for a couple of £ a month.

I just tried setting up a new account and there was an option to redeem a Turkish gift card at the bottom. I believe now when you try to watch from a new region you get locked out for 30 days, so you have to pick the cheapest plan which gets wasted for a month, then you upgrade when it is unlocked.

Butt hurt are the ones bending over paying UK prices like mugs.

Then you shouldn't look down on those that are not as well off as you and take measures to cut back on costs. I'm saying it all adds up. You wouldn't laugh at people going to food banks, but people cutting back on monthly streaming subs is fair game?

I'm not fussed how people get around paying whatever value they want for their subs but let's not go putting a Netflix sub into the same bracket as basic necessities to live.

This is all explained on a variety of places on the internet in plain site as to how to do it. Yes it has changed a bit over time. There are various apps to get the mobile number for sms verification. The whole sign up process is minutes if you read and follow basic instructions.
When you say a few quid, for premium you'll currently save £145 per year via Turkey. It's not all about Turkey though. There are other countries people have had success with for cheaper.

I didn't. You did apparently. I was making a point about costs and how each are different.

I followed various guides and they were out of date or wrong or just trying to sell u something. Several paid for vpn's were a waste of time, took paying and trying a few before getting 1 that worked on netflix turkey. The websites to verify numbers were useless. I'll save about £3.50 per month on my basic plan afaik. Edit : the vpn that worked for me to sign up was mullvad. Tried Express vpn, Nord vpn, Windscribe, and Mullvad.

It's possible you faced issues where Netflix Turkey have tried to blacklist certain VPN exit nodes accessing the sign up domains. It's a cat and mouse game they will never win. You simply switch your vpn server within that region and try again. A good provider should have several per region. I've previously had Nord and faced zero issues. It probably wasn't the VPN tbh. With the SMS verification there was one you could buy on android or IOS for a dollar. Very reliable.
