I was thinking about pulling the trigger on a GT to replace my ATI X1950XT (1920x1200), but I think I'll wait a little and see how the new GTS performs. Looks to be a good time to consider an upgrade with all this activity on the red and green teams.

currently have a Nvida QuadrFX550 hardware DX7) in my rig (XP64bit, 2180@2400, 2gbram, D35P mpoard, antec P180 case)

really deperate for a decent card, but i need to wait i think till mid december!

Yeah I agree. Mid december best bet. Thing is...you can wait around forever wit htis sort of thing. When you come to buy then something else will be rumoured such as 9*** series or something. Still... good times for buyer.

well at the moment i'm waiting for the stocks of both the 3870 and 8800gt to settle, and see what the real prices are once the fanboys have got their orders in.

around mid december, i think the prices should settle, and we should see another iteration of drivers which should give us a better understanding of performance.

512mb of RAM :(

I know RAM is expensive and it seems there are cheaper was to make the card faster but I just hate it how they seem to go forward in some aspects and then back in others, I know it isn't a top end card but still...

This is also why i don't think we will see a GTX. The G92 chip doesn't seem to look to be able to handle a larger memory int.

Theres a 1gb G92 GTS to. :p

I dunno, i cant see it being that much faster than the GT tbh, as if you remember the GTX has the same amount of streams (128), and the GT is around GTX in performance, so i cant see the new GTS being a huge amount faster, not if the GTX and Ultra we got now aint all that over the GT, and the GT also has the same amount of texure stuff as the new GTS as well, so GTS is really just a higher clocked GT with a few extra streams, still doesn't bother me, happy bunny with my GT, ideal at my res to of 1280x1024, getting GTX performance outa mine at that res, and it kicks ass. :D

think they will probably not release the 9xxx series this year, could be wrong though.

From the new 8800GTS pic we can prove that: the new G92 already integrate NVIO chip into the GPU. the old version stock cooler will not fit G92 anymore.

Then what about the new G92 version 8800GTS? Of course the G92 version 8800GTS still have 256bit memory interface, so they got 512MB and 1024MB two version. The date and the MSRP will be Dec. 3 and 2299CNY ( 308USD ) .

So, we got five different version of 8800GTS totally:

8800GTS G80 90纳米 96SP 320bit 320MB ( Integrated VP1 engine)

8800GTS G80 90纳米 96SP 320bit 640MB ( Integrated VP1 engine)

8800GTS G80 90纳米 112SP 320bit 640MB (Integrated VP2 engine) ( Nov. 19)

8800GTS G92 65纳米 128SP 256bit 512MB(Integrated VP2 engine)(Dec. 3)

8800GTS G92 65纳米 128SP 256bit 1024MB(Integrated VP2 engine)(Dec. 3)

seems like we are getting a 1024 mb version! :) and the 19th only a redone version of the G80.

Im not so sure. The NVidia ROPs so far are divided into partitions of 4 each, each one connected to a 64-bit memory channel.

8800GTX > 6 of 4, 6x64 = 384bit
8800GTS 640/320 > 5 of 4, 5x64 = 320bit
8800GT > 4 of 4, 4x64 = 256bit

Unless they've changed something in the basic architecture?

actually i think you're right, due to the arch it looks like it will not have any more ROP's than the GT.

if this is in fact the case i'd be more inclined to put the extra cost of it toward a 2nd GT.

I was thinking the same.

If it just is a GT with the extra SP a second GT would yield better results.

Do you guys recon two GTS's on launch will be under 500 quid?

I gota buy the pc before christmas and im worried the same thing with the GT's will happen. Hardly any stock and high prices.
