New Dell IPS S2721DGF 165hz gaming monitor

Cancelled mine this evening, LG being delivered tomorrow.. What a total waste of time DELL has been. I will be sharing this crap experience with many other gaming friends/streamers I know, not that a company of Dell’s size would give a damn, BUT if I manage to get 10 people buying an alternative I will at least feel better.. :)

My LG 27GL850-B arrived before midday today, after I ordered it yesterday. It's spotless, faultless, and gorgeous. It was essentially plug and play, but I decided to calibrate it using my partner's SpyderX Pro. Turns out the ICC profile is close to factory, brightness aside.

Still got my Dell order, although at this point I'm honestly considering cancelling it.

Phoned up to try and get discount.. They talk a load of bs and just full of excuses, offered it for £315 but wouldn't do it for £280.80 so I cancelled my order. Impossible to know when it's ever going to turn up anyways, Dell really do have crap customer service.

Same. Now that I've learned people are getting them for £50 less there's absolutely no point in continuing waiting. What's the next best alternative monitor?

Currys selling the LG 27GL850 (Identical panel, superior out the box factory calibration - but 144hz) for a £339. Mines arriving tomorrow.

Dell uses the same LG pannel. LG is slightly better in contrast ratio. Watch the "hardware unboxed" review for details. Conclusion is depending on price you can go for either if you dont care about +11Hz in dell.

The thing that had been niggling at me on the Dell is the production quality of these units with component shortages that we are all waiting for. This could lead to compromised assembly if they have had to change their normal process in any way. (e.g. having to revisit partially completed units etc..) As an electronics design engineer I have seen the consequence of this quite a few times over the years.

Edit: Also, if I was LG I would save the best panels for my monitors and give the lower quality ones to the competition. And we all know there is high variation on these panels

This is exactly why I cancelled ... wasn't too bothered about the wait.

Yeah if dell had had their **** together and given proper timelines then it would have been fine. They are locking users into making decisions and then you are stuck with them. But I think LG dropped their prices after dell monitors. They were areound 430 when I last saw them

Just had a painful call with Dell. Offered me the 10% discount on delivery, taking it down to £297. Leaves a bitter taste, waiting for over a month for this and being screwed around, then not getting the best price. Further joke is that if you can get it for £280, when it's inevitably delayed they'll give you another 10% off...

Think I need to re-order at £280, then cancel. I hate all this.

Let's not be salty - the Dell is a better unit than the LG
The better unit for me is the one I'm using right now.

You're right, the Dell is better according to reviews, but having been through customer support a bunch of times and sat through three delays I find myself adjusting my view of Dell. To disappointment, mostly.
