*** NEW Fractal Design Case - Coming Soon ***

The Fractual fans are very good according to their specs, difficult to accurately test the airflow myself but they are very quiet, better than my noctua 120mm fans anyway.

So whats the general consensus on extra fans?

Are people generally buying 2x140mm Fractals? Where are they fitting them? What does the case come supplied with?

Yep comes with 2 120mm's

I got an extra 2x 120mm and 1x 140mm. Now I have 2x 120mm at front as intake. 1x 120mm on the bottom as intake. 1x 120mm at rear as exhaust and the 140mm at top middle as exhaust.

After fitting those 5 the case still has a 120/140mm fan space on the side door and a 120/140 mm fan space on the top.

any comments on the smell?

Mine didnt smell.

Running an i7 920 at 3.6 at the moment, got the 2 x 120mm intake at the front, 1 x 140mm intake at the bottom and just using the single 120mm extractor. Running great. Whacked a 92mm fractal fan on my 4870 too and I'm getting good temps and no stability issues.

The Fractal fans are very very quiet. However, I'm not really happy with the airflow. I had an Apache running at 1400rpm - very windy. The 140mm Fractal Fan running at around 1100rpm was much quieter but only a gentle breeze - two of them could barely lift a sheet of A4.

Would they be any good for on a 420mm radiator?

I used cable tie bases, can't see any on OCUK, but you can get them from several places that I can't mention on this forum. They have an adhesive base and you thread the cable tie through them enabling you to secure the cables tightly to the rear of the MB tray. I had no trouble fitting the rear panel after using them.

You can see them here in one of my Pics:

i am planning to buy some cable ties & cable tie bases, what size cable ties and bases did you use?

I have a bag of 100 cable ties, 2.5mm x 100mm

And

A bag of 100 x 20mm x 20mm bases

Both bought from a well known electrical and gadget store. I cut the ties off close to the tie lock, so I dont belieive size matters too much ;)

The case comes with a couple of velcro ties I found useful for coping with the 24-pin connector. My PSU and motherboard both came with a few zip ties too - check in the boxes?

Ok, case should arrive monday. And will have 4x120mm and 2x140mm fans to go with it.

Wonder where I should have them all and which ones as in/outtake, cause I'm useless at getting good airflow.

Thankies ;)

Hi all,

Thinking of getting this case to build a pc for a friend of mine, but am somewhat worried about a test report which suggests the cooling of this case is bad. Can any owners on here confirm how their temps are with this case?

Do i need to be overly worried about this? Would appreciate some insight as I need to order all the parts early next week.

Mark
