*** NEW Fractal Design Case - Coming Soon ***

I've found the fractal ones are as good as any! Got 1 x 140mm in the base of mine, plus and extra 120mm in the front, I even whacked a 92mm fractal on my graphics card cooler and they work brilliantly, superbly quiet.

Excellent, I'll probably get a couple of the 140mm for top and side and see how my temps are and take it from there. Thanks for all your help guys:)

Just got mine the other day but yet to install anything into it. Very impressed though. I wasn't actually expecting this thing to be as solid as it is. Even the top of the case, which I'd heard reports of being a bit thin, is solid and seems thick. :D

Water cooling Fractal

Well I have decided to go ahead and water cool one of these cases. I know the case come with pre cut holes for water cooling but I plan to do all internally.

Going to place a Black Ice 240mm stealth Rad in the top, I have had to order a low profile Enzotech Mosfet cooler to fit the fans as well. EK Cpu and Ek northbridge block as my Rampage formula runs hot. Laing 18w DDC pump with Acrylic top and Swiftech Micro res v2. (thanks to Phunky Phish for advice) 7/16 blue tubing with Clear Fluid xp Xtreme coolant. 2 x 120mm fans on rad. (not decided which yet, maybe Noctua or Sharkoon) I will post pics when done, the mosfet cooler was only in stock in US. Has anyone actually managed to water cool one of these cases yet, if so post pics please. Heres my case....

........... I've had my Fractal for a couple of days now - nice looking case, but I have to say I am not blown away by it.

I think, if you are going to fill the case, lots of the benefits are compromised - it will hold (in my setup) multiple 5xxx GPUs and 5 HDDs - but not silently or coolly. There are also a couple of design niggles (to my way of thinking) such as the extra inner doors covering the front intake fans, the raised seam which runs the full height of the case between back of mobo & behind HDD racks that prevents cables being run between the two areas ..... nothing serious, but an irritation.

However, the FD fans are pretty good - shifting good amounts of air quietly.

All in all - I don't think it is quite as good as my Antec 902 apart from the HDD bays which, although side on & therefore presenting more of an obstacle to the flow of air, are easy to use & look good. :)

I replaced my antec 1200 with the fractal (pics are a page or 2 back) and i think its doing a great job, ive got an i7 920(C0 stepping) overclocked to 3.9ghz stable and idle temps im geting are 40-43c (depending on room temp) and 68-73c when running prime95 even after 2 or 3 hours. I did replace the front 120mm fans as well as the exhaust 120mm with the akasa apache (£13 each!!) as well as adding 2 x 140mm fractal fans on top and 1 on side

Yes that raised seem is a real irritation.

I am liking the case, it is nice and quiet, but I have had it two weeks and there is a deffinate smell from the bitumen. It could be because I keep it in a small room, but I can smell it every time I enter. I wouldn't say it actually bothers me though.

Hopefully if things go correctly I'll be getting one for my birthday!....any ideas how I should set it up fan wise?
Going to be getting a h50 too!
And 4 hard-drives.....place them all togeather, split them up into some config. Have the fan below through them, above/below them....loadsa options!

Are fractal fans the best? Thinking 2for the h50 (pull air outside then push it into the machin), 140 for the top to extract and a 140 on the side to blow in.....

suggestions?

I have 2x120mm intake at the front, 2x140mm exhaust at the top, 1x120mm exhaust at the rear and 1x140mm exhaust in the side (there is no dust filter there).

All of the fans are Fractal apart from the rear exhaust which is a PWM-controlled Akasa Apache.

Depending what your PSU is, you might want to put the side intake into the bottom of the case, where there is a provided dust filter. My PSU (HX750W) is too big for this to work, but I think it fits with the non-modular TX750W.

It is far from thick. Its suitable, but it wouldn't hurt them to add a few mm to the thickness of the panels IMHO.

Thats all the downside is. I'm surprised at how well the soundproofing works if I'm honest :) For once i've been able to connect up everything in my front panel, as the cables are long enough too :D

It does get hot though, if you are looking for silence then have; 1 intake, 1 rear outake and 1 side panel out take otherwise when you open up the side panel and pc has been on for a while you can feel it 'hold' the heat.

Cheers, I honestly can't remember what my PSU is......I've got in mind that it's a half modular type thing, eg it has x amount permently in there but the option to add more.....i honestly have no idea, been that long since I looked.

It comes with 2X120mm fans right?

So thats the front sorted.....
Then 2x120mm for the H50, which would mean no rear exhaust
2X140mm top exhaust
140mm side exhaust

Sounds aright that..................

just want something silent than my current set-up, altho hard-drives can be a tad noisey at times.

Yes, it comes with 2x120mm fans. The HDD trays come with rubber spacers to help with vibrations, I can't hear my HDD but that maybe because it's a Samsung F3.

That fan setup is fine, I have those as you say + 3xAkasa Apaches. On a 'silent' speed profile it is really really quiet.

I just got the Fractal and it really is a nice case but I need some advice.

I also got the Corsair H50 CPU water cooler and I understand its suppose to go where the back stock fan is.

If I take the rear stock fan, where do I place it? And whilst were on this subject, should I move the front one?

I don't think I will be buying anymore fans btw...
