*** NEW Fractal Design Case - Coming Soon ***

I just got the Fractal and it really is a nice case but I need some advice.

I also got the Corsair H50 CPU water cooler and I understand its suppose to go where the back stock fan is.

If I take the rear stock fan, where do I place it? And whilst were on this subject, should I move the front one?

I don't think I will be buying anymore fans btw...
Most people move the rear 120mm fan to the front so there are 2 at front and add additional fans to roof, but since you won't be adding more fans it would be better to move the rear 120mm as an exhaust on the roof (blowing upwards), and leave a single 120mm at the front.

Also, the fractal fans... With the fractal sticker showing, is it pushing or pulling air?

Check the side of the fan, there are very (very, very) small arrows indicating the direction of airflow.

Just bagged one of these fellas B-grade from a competitor, plus 3 extra 120mm Fractal fans for less than 80 quid all in. B-grade damage to the case was minimal and I'd say it's due more to poor packaging design on Fractal's part that it was damaged to be honest.

On the more serious side, I've got to say it's a cracking little case for the price and in terms of noise and spousal acceptance (the main reason for changing from an Antec 1200), it's streets ahead of the last case.

Build was easy enough and the temps within the case from a Phenom 955BE, 4870-512, 74gb Raptor and 3 Samsung 320gb drives are fine now I've rammed the extra fans in.

Couldn't really go past it for the price and that's the only reason I went anywhere other than OCUK to be honest!

Had an email through the other week from Nordics of Fractal as i asked if a windowed side panel was available, they said one will be released shortly if anyone is interested to know that

Have had my Fractal case for some time now and it's honestly one of hte best cases I've had, certainly much better than the last case I had!

Plenty of space for my modest setup, very easy to get in and out of, cable management was a bit tricky due to the seam people have spoken about and because of general length of the cables on my PSU (not really a downside of the case though) but all were routed nicely out the way.

I was never a fan of door's on PC cases as I thought they looked tacky etc but I am amazed at how much noise the door and the sound proofing actually blocks out from my DVD drives!

I'm using just the 2 Fractal fans you get with it along with a Thermalright SI-128 and Panaflo 120x38mm fan on a Q6600 (old skool toasty version). Temps are good all round and again, nice and quiet all round too.

Definitely recommended! :)

I agree with every word cokecan. It is an impressive case, I was amazed at how quiet it was. I need to do some preventative maintenance soon though, the dust levels will be reaching defcon 1 levels. :p

i moved both the original fans, i put one on the side blowing in at my gfx cards and the other as an exaust in the top nearest the back, then fitted 3 noctua p12's, 2 at the front blowing in and 1 at the rear blowing out :D

I really like the look of this case, and after reading practically the entirety of this thread this weekend I think I shall be purchasing it from Overclockers in the next few days! With a few extra fans, of course...
I'm really anti-LED and so hate all these new Antec, CoolerMaster etc cases that are coming out in recent years with blue and red lights all over them. I think they just look extremely tacky. The Fractal R2 just looks very classy (to my mind, at least) and has plenty of space for my crossfired 5850s! Perfect!

i just put a side fan on mine for gfx cooling, id advise you do the same with CF cards + summer :p , i bought 1 of these handy dustcovers for the side fan which i recomend (although not cheap) http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CM-086-OK

Well I was a bit of an idiot a few weeks back, when it was still cold out I had a fan heater beside my desk blowing hot air towards my feet, it was obviously angled such that the flow of hot air just clipped the front edge of the case as the front is plastic the edge of the door and side vent melted :/

Oh well, still works a charm, wouldn't have happened if it was metal...then again it wouldn't have happened if i wasn't an idiot :p

Not a bad idea, thanks, as my cards do get very hot particularly on days like this where it is something like 25°C outside! I was thinking about putting a 120mm fan in the bottom before this to draw cool air in but have since been put off as the amount of cr*p that accumulates under my current case in just a few days is astonishing, and so I really don't want that being sucked in all the time...

would be nice if they even slightly mentioned the reason for B Grade on the product

I know, I just asked this in general hardware. Not much point if it arrived in an old cardboard box, scratched to bits with no manuals and extra bits

edit - Doesnt matter, just ordered a new one :) Should be interesting carrying it home from work on the bus
