** NEW SAMSUNG 750D & 950D True 120Hz LED Monitors - PRE-ORDER! **

That seems to be a widely shared feeling. The asymetric design just doesn't seem to appeal to many - I have done a quick survey at my work and of family of friends. From over 60 responses and a broad cross-section of different people there is a resounding preference for the SA750 design. I just wish Samsung had put a DVI port on it and I hope, at least, that DisplayPort makes its way to all of Nvidia's upcoming mid-range+ GPUs. Even if that is scant consolation to existing Nvidia GPU owners.

I like the asymmetrical stand on the 950. I also like asymmetrical modern furniture, so there you go. Having a stand in the middle and just a plain rectangle bezel is pretty boring these days.

Samsung cannot release the 950 soon enough!

The people who preferred the SA750 design still commented on the uniquenesss of the look - how thin the bezel is and the stand itself. People who preferred the SA950 look commented that they liked the sleek, modern and integrated design (or words to that effect). One lady who was undecided said the SA950 would be nice on the mantlepiece but it may look out of place with the rest of her system. :D So choice is always a good thing, but Samsung's choice of ports on the SA750 seems a little imprudent.

I presume there is no wall mount fixings on either of these?

This is correct. The monitors are kept thin by integrating many electronics into the stand itself and/or the base and it is an integral part of the design. It can't be removed and there will be no mount holes as the screws would have to eat into the monitor itself given the slender profile.

If A GPU doesnt have a display port it cant take advantage of 120hz?

That is the only port on the SA750 series with sufficient bandwidth for 120Hz at the native resolution, yes. The SA950 offers a DVI port which will provide the necessary bandwidth over a dual link cable.

When you say dual link DVI does that mean a cable that plugs into both DVI ports on the GPU side and one DVI port on the monitor side and is that how all 120hz DVI screens provide a 120hz connection?

It is just a single cable that goes directly from one port on the GPU to another on the monitor. It is basically twice as thick (has twice as many lanes) as a standard cable and delivers twice as much data.

Hey all.

Super new here, but have lurked a lot in the past.

Was wondering about the T27A950 model, is it worth bothering with? Will OCUK stock it?

Really keen on the connectivity of that model, especially optical audio output, as my M11XR2 doesn't have one, but I'm wondering what the negative points are, when compared to the S27A950 model?

Thanks in advance for the advice! =)

The main issue is the fact that they only offer HDMI display outputs and are therefore incapable of outputting 120Hz at native resolution.

If you want 120Hz ur going to have to use the DisplayPort.

Still confused, Creed is effectlively saying you cant get 120HZ unless you have a display port?

PCM2's reply was regarding dual-link DVI which applies to the DVI input on the sa950.

Displayport is a completely different cable, and on a monitor without DVI (the 750?), the only way to get 120Hz @ 1080p is over Displayport because the other connectors (HDMI) don't carry enough bandwidth.

If the GPU is up to par and (obviously) the monitor has a DVI port, yes. Have a look at Nvidia's site on 3d vision as they have an equipment check list in terms of which cards and which monitors are capable of what resolutions and limits etc. My card and monitor are operating through DVI with 120Hz @ 1080p.

Ah thats great i'll have a look thanks
