** NEW SAMSUNG ODYSSEY G7/G9 MONITORS 27-49" AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER **

Just cancelled my G9 Order because of no ETA from Samsung but the flickering issues on these Samsung monitor's have me worried, but I just bought the ASUS ROG Swift PG35VQ 35" in its place and should be arriving tomorrow.

@NikTheSHNIK Any idea how many shipped today? I've had no alert that mine has, so I'm assuming im a later order number and there wasn't enough stock. Do you know when the next batch of stock for the G7 27 is?

Not sure if I want to return mine for a refund or get a replacement but the flickering is just awful for me. Seems to be getting worse.

I have AMD RX 5700 XT with G7 32" and I have "mild" flickering, noticeable sometimes on loading screens and when FPS 80 or less. Turning off adaptive sync will help, so there is something overall with VRR, not directly related to NVIDIA/GSync.

If you use HWInfo software and check your monitor details, what does it have as manufacture week? I have week 6, 2020.
On reddit some members are saying that there are 3 different batches of this monitor, someone had heavy flickering and it was batch 1, but replacement monitor, 2nd batch is much better.

Mines says week 50 year 2038???

Strange, did you use latest beta, HWinfo64 version 6.29-4210?

So.. This suggests my display was 9 months old before I even opened the box... Amazing.
Thanks.

Hopefully we get more people to use HWInfo, I am specifically interested if that "Monitor Name" is unique or something representing the batch.
Just purely looking at this, one would assume I happened to receive 2nd batch and you have 1st batch, again I don't know for sure, but this just by judging manufacture time and model is for me SAM70... and you have SAM10...

So let's hope we have more people using HWInfo and if we can see more similar what you/me have, then one can assume these are representing different batches and the one on reddit, saying 1st had more problems than 2nd, would be true.

Also please notice frequency, for GSync it seems to be 80-240 and FreeSync 60-240Hz. However, I notice very bad flickering already at 80 FPS so this +20 more range doesn't really help.

EDIT: Just noticed you have 27" model, I have 32".

That might explain why my 27inch is much older then

Don't know if it will work on the G7/G9, but I've been looking into flickering and G-Sync/FreeSync and it looks like loads of displays have issues from most if not all manufacturers with flickering. Some seem to suggest that editing the sync ranges using the Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) fixes the flickering for them - I think this works in cases where the flickering is caused by the frame rate dropping below the specified sync range. I don't know if using that tool voids warrenty though, so if you decide to give it a go, it might be worth looking into whether or not it affects the warranty.

Disclaimer: What I write below is just what I gleaned from different forums, so take it might be complete rubbish, that said the explanation sounds reasonable...

From what I've read, it looks like flickering occurs on VA and TN panels on both G-Sync and FreeSync; I didn't find any cases where it occurs on IPS in my brief search - perhaps there are cases of it though on IPS? Anyway, the argument seems to be that the adaptive sync implementation works as expected, but when there is a dropped frame you can get flicker on VA and TN panels because they are unable to keep a constant brightness on a pixel, basically keeping voltage on them without refreshing them seems to cause the pixels to brighten more and more until the next refresh. I'm guessing the variations in how these panels are designed/implemented determines to some degree how bad the effect is.

Given in our case, the the adaptive sync range of the monitor is 60-240Hz.... consider this example. Your FPS counter is stating that you are running at 100FPS, but there is a momentary micro-stutter that is effectively equivalent to dropping a frame or two, that means in that instant you have a time between frames equivalent to 50fps (if one frame is dropped), or 33fps (if two frames are dropped). In both these cases, you are momentarily running outside of the supported range. If your monitor holds on to the frame the the pixels get brighter and brighter until the next refresh, this exhibits itself as a bright flicker. The longer the time between frames, the brighter the pixels get and the worse the flicker appears.

Again, what I have written might be a complete load of rubbish, so take it with a grain of salt.

So any alternatives to the 32inch, that I should look at. I ordered on 2nd of July. Seems no date forthcoming and bit concerned that I'll be in the back end of pre orders?

They need to make an announcement or something I'm fed up with being asked daily to "chase up the g9" like ringing is only going to back up the phone line and I'm never going to get any real answers.

Hi, I've placed an order for one of these puppies. I've seen on another site that they are expecting stock ~ 9th Sept. Here's hoping the wait is not that long.

im just on to samsung now asking when they will have stock. A guy called Bryan on the samsung chat has just said "I have checked it, and we don't have any detail yet when the stock of the Odyssey G9 will replenish. Please click the link below and select "Get Stock Alert" so that you will be notified immediately once it becomes available."

from previous experience there with phones and other stuff they seem to favour retail places first with their new stock which makes sense.

bit concerning though, that even they dont have a ETA.
to edit, I got the s20 ultra from virgin media and there was a slight delay with the pre-orders but samsung gave me a ETA for stock and they was spot on with it
