** NEW SAMSUNG ODYSSEY G7/G9 MONITORS 27-49" AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER **

So I made the changes following the instructions and screenshots given and I still have flickering when I run the pendulum test. Am I able to change the range from 30-240? If so, what values would I put in to the ‘H range’?

I do not get flickering in that test with any settings even out the box and with V-Sync Off or V-Sync On or G-Sync but it is smother esp at lower FPS with the latter

I went through 2 32" G7 and both flickered at every framerate when G-Sync was enabled. I tried literally everything to fix it and nothing worked (different drivers, firmwares, custom resolutions, custom refresh rates, custom VRR ranges and frequencies, different settings in the OSD).

Anyway, I returned both of them.

Setting it to 30-240 doesn't automatically mean that adaptive sync is working at 30-240. You have to check in the OSD under informations when LFC is kicking in (it doubles the refresh rate to stay within the VRR range, e.g. 40fps runs at 80Hz). I tried a bunch of settings and the lowest VRR floor I got was around 54Hz.

It is an awesome beast of a screen, will be worth the wait.

Tried HDR within windows but overshoot is REALLY bad, anybody else getting the same?

Edit - fixed the overshoot, turned freesync off and changed the motion response setting to Normal instead of Faster. Turned freesync back on and it's kept the setting.

How are you finding it? And do you know if yours is 01 or 02

Love the screen, its an FA01 btw. Didn't have that samsung QA sticker on which I had hoped for.

Not without its issues, I've got that one annoying dead pixel and also noticed last night ive got that same issue others have had with light leakage above the frame top left. Because of the light leakage I'm going to speak with samsung.

Other annoyances like netflix via windows not playing hdr when the screen is set to 240hz, have to drop down to 120hz. Minor annoyance this though.

Can't set my xbox to 1440p 120hz either, hdmi does 60hz and no more? This really peeves me off, clearly the g9 can do it but for some daft reason its greyed out as an option.

Calibrates great, multitasking beast, pbp is great though wish it did it at over 60hz. The curve is immense, makes so much sense when you use it.

I'm hoping samsung can send me one which has been qc checked as a replacement. Wondering if its better to deal direct with samsung as opposed to the store I bought it from, better chance of getting a goodun.

I don’t think I have ever been this excited but nervous about a purchase before!

Me too buddy, I've got a G9 pre ordered & am hearing quite a few horror stories about Bezel bleed etc. I thought the idea of Samsung delaying the launch was to rectify this issue hence waiting 5 weeks or so after the launch of July 10th!. Would be gutted setting the whole thing up and having to pack it up again for a return.

Fingers crossed your panels are good!

My bezel bleed I can get rid of with a bit of pressure, but it reappears after a few minutes. TBH given the price tag this shouldn't be happening.

Miffed as it's a great screen otherwise

Get in touch with Samsung mate and get a swap out until you get a perfect one for the money we have all spent should be perfect tbh.

Agreed, will reach out to them.

This thing is such a pain to box back up!

if you deal with Samsung I'm sure it will be done within 48hrs, not sure where you bought the G9 from but might be a big of a longer turnaround. In America Samsung are contacting customers about the light bleed issue and offering replacements so I reckon they are aware of the problem.

Bought from a proper store based in Portsmouth, I'll speak first with samsung, hopefully will do what they are doing for US customers.

Got notified that my G9 has been shipped and arrives on Monday, yay! I placed my pre order on 18th June, and a week ago I was told I was "within the top 50 in the queue". So I guess I made it into this batch! Hope that helps. Happy to share my feedback when it arrives on Monday. Oh and it was here in OC where I purchased it from.

Sounds good too me mate & good luck getting a decent screen.

Not sure why some get that as mines has always been seen as G-Sync Comp even out the box on 1002 or 1003 FW and before the recent driver and previously the hotfix driver.

What build is yours, mine sin FB02 which AFAIK is May 2020 (rear sticker near barcode)?
I have FB01, should i return it? Still within that period..

EDIT:
Have updated FW to 1006 from korean site, turned on Adaptive Sync and enabled G-Sync support in NV Control panel. Not seeing anything problematic so far, will do some more game play today..

Confirmed with OC on Thursday I am expecting mine Monday but not had any dispatch note yet. Might be Tuesday I guess now. I was number 50 with a pre order 29th June. They were expecting 57 yesterday.

This thread terrifies me, it doesn't surprise me, but it bloody well terrifies me....

On PAPER, the specs are just spectacular, and sure, some people get a working, no issue unit.

But for me, it's just not worth the risk, effort and stress, that buyers seem to have to endure when spending large lumps of their hard earned money, only to be left disappointed and frustrated, not knowing weather to live with the issues they have or risk returning it in the hope for a better replacement...

This should NOT be the case when spending over £1000 on a monitor of all things.

As much as the specs appeal to me, and the performance is great (when it works), I just CBA with the hassle and worry of not getting a 100% perfect unit.

I think this thread has made up my mind for me, I intend to wait till a replacement comes along for OLED, don't care about size, just OLED quality and performance without burn in risk, possibly QNED/QD-OLED etc etc, something along those lines, I will just wait for that, then go big screen PC gaming wall mounted on a deep desk, and have a standard smaller monitor which is cheap as chips for bog standard stuff. This way, quality control is a NON issue and value for money is significantly increased.

If I knew 100% a 32 inch G7 would be faultless from day 1 for me, I would have purchased it day 1, but as it stands, the monitor market can do one.

Sorry for the rant, I have just been waiting for what feels like forever, and every time CES comes along I see the next "big thing" with amazing specs, then let down by shoddy quality, all while being asked to pay TOP DOLLAR to be a beta tester.

**** it, I hope everyone that took a punt ends up being rewarded for all the stress they have to endure.

If you want to go big screen/wall eventually then you may be better with one of the new consoles.

PC games (the FOV) are aimed at sitting closer to a "smaller" screen so you can actually see the higher RES.

Had the G7 32 over a week now, have no dead pixels, have updated to the Korean firmware and installed the Samsung monitor driver. I have mild flickering in certain loading scenes in Battlefield 5.

My own opinion is it's a stunning monitor and I'm lax to send it back as the flickering is very minimal and only happening as previously stated. Its an FB02 version. I love the curve and came from a flat monitor so not finding the change difficult. I'm 9 out if 10 happy with it but the will I get a better one demon is on the shoulder trying to convince me to return it.

Firstly, its all about the games or game you intend to play, and there are a few games coming in the next 1-3 years that I feel for me, personally, would suit a big screen experience, but still on PC.

Secondly, yes, the new consoles are a possible choice, but only the XBOX Series X interests me, but with a PC you get all the same games, and much more, PC for me is a all in one media solution, feeding into my high end hifi digital dacs feeding them HI RES audio etc etc via USB.

Lastly, about the resolution, I feel you have it all wrong. Having owned a 65 inch, 4k HDR Samsung flagship now for sometime, the whole point of a large screen, with a high resolution, or at least one of the BENEFITS, is the ability to sit closer to it while still maintaining a sharp image, where the pixels do not stand out. That for me is the point of 4/8k on a large screen. 4k on a 24/27 inch monitor for me is a waste of time, hell, I have been happily gaming on a Samsung 120hz gaming monitor which is 27 inch and 1080p for years without any issues, immersive and easy to drive with a GPU, all while sitting at desk distance, that for me is a fully extended arm, shoulder to finger tip, and you cannot quite touch the screen. I do not see the pixels, text is great and so are games.

Yes its partially subjective and down to personal usage, but I stand by what I said about 4k large screens, they allow you to sit 3-4 feet away and still enjoy a high pixel density, sharp image.
