** NEW SAMSUNG ODYSSEY G7/G9 MONITORS 27-49" AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER **

All done. No change to that change in brightness thing going on. It doesn't bother me enough to worry unless it gets bad in other cases. Must be a firmware fixable thing I would imagine. Cant see a single dead pixel, will keep looking. Goign to try Doom

Will check. It 1005.4 on the uk site which I am now on. No issues with Doom, had to drop to High/Ultra with the higher res but it seems fine. Will have to actually check the FPS later. Much more immersive that's for sure. Very pleased so far.

EDIT Looks like 1005.3 on the Korean site.

This is changelog for 1006 on G7:

The 1006 version applied to the model Modified from the existing 1005 version.

M-TG700CCAA-1006.0 - 17/07/2020

- EDID change to support UHD 4K resolution

- HDMI black screen issue countermeasures applied

- DSC 10bit issue has been improved

In the 1006 version, additional,

Version in failure condition due to adjustment of eDPtx output termination value and software update It is confirmed that the typographical error has been corrected, so please refer to it.

Note: It's recommended to factory reset the monitor settings and unplug it for a couple of minutes after the firmware update, to make sure it applies properly.

I think thats what people mean by "flicker" - the brightness goes up and down for the whole screen... see if it changes when you upgrade firmware. Mine came with 1004 out of the box, updated it to 1005.4
this really shouldn't be any test for "flicker" on these screens. Anyone who is using that and sending the screen back or expecting a new unit to behave differently is probably over-reacting. That GIF causes an odd brightness change every couple of seconds on the screen, but thats not the flicker people are referring to. it's also a very niche and specific test, and while it is certainly a weird behaviour and oddity it isn't really any issue in any normal use. that GIF seems to do that no matter what the settings and is unrelated to adaptive-sync or anything else. but it's not a real test.

the flicker problem some people have experienced is related to having VRR enabled and seems to happen in some games and some tests, but not all. it appears to most occur at lower refresh rates and in the LFC range, but sometimes it happens no matter what refresh rate is active in certain situations. turning adaptive sync off seems to resolve it in every case I've seen I think, so it's more a VRR bug than anything else. but totally unrelated to that GIF "test"

This is not only a gif that cause it. I can reproduce it with static content. Like opening twitter tab on one part of the screen and opening another dark themed application on other. Same for some pictures, menus and videos. The effect is same if you would try to adjust Black Equalizer and probably it is bugged and trying to readjust on the edge value, causing it to flicker around threshold.
Gif is just easy way to reproduce it. Opening and closing folder in dark theme windows will do this flicker too. Switching between bookmark folders in Opera will do same flicker with scanlines.

Not to say weird perforation on solid colors when panning around in games or move colorful objects around.

It might be different for G7 models but this is how it is on G9 and I am requesting RMA as it is too many issue.
Here is the list I compiled over two month of use:
https://old.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/ig958n/samsung_odyssey_g9_burnin_and_other_issues/

But what is bizarre is a burn in I am encounter only after 2 month of use at 5-15% brightness in SDR.

Weird thing is VA (I have had image retention on one but eventually got rid of it) is not as prone to it, that would be IPS out of the 3 main LCD's types.

This was not in normal use, Windows messed up after bi-yearly updates and stopped the screensaver/power off settings working all the time and still acts up.

One thing that has me concerned, is someone on reddit in the UK got two, both had the same issue - light leak on top left - and contacted samsung and was told that it must be caused by damage in transit and isn't an issue covered by warranty...

which is weird considering samsung USA have acknowledged the issue.

For me it's about 1" long and quite dim, I was thinking I'd live with it (for now) especially as I've not got any dead pixels.. but I'm not sure now..

I have hibernate set to 30 minutes and power off my monitor if I am leaving apartment/PC unattended for more than one hour. So it was not working 24/7.

Anyone with the G7 use it alongside a second non-curved monitor? I did for a while and it made my non-curved monitor distort when I looked back and forth between them. Anyone else had this and seen it subside over time?
Yup. Bought G7 to match it with Dell, Dell look funny.
Got to work after annual leave, have two flat 24'' Dell's there - yup, looks stupid..
How to request new curved monitors if current ones were ordered by myself just a month ago ?!?!?!?!?!

Guys I have a few questions if you don’t mind.

1) what is difference between vsync and gsync?

2) I tried the pendulum test and set my fps to 240 (why 240 I don’t know, probably getting confused with the Hz), anyway it managed that ok. When I try to click gsync it won’t enable it (yet it’s on, on monitor and Nvidia control panel).

setup is g7 27” with 2070 super.

Something in the Global profile could be causing that as the other day on YT someone made a Snake-oil profile via NV Inspector claiming to fix the flickering, all it did was disable G-Sync even though it claimed it was on in NV CP.

G-Sync could not be selected in the NV Pendulum Demo till I reset the Global Profile back to defaults.

I am not gonna lie I am raging, this monitor is just not fit for purpose. Not only do I have the problem with the resolution whilst loading Windows, now (after 10 mins) the screen still wouldn't turn on - well, it would turn on but kept telling me no DisplayPort cable was connected. tried it in all three ports on my PC plus the onboard graphics DP. I know its not my card as I have recently upgraded from 1660 to 2070 and the same issued occur. Turned off at the switch, unplugged it, restarted PC - NOTHING. I then change the port at the back of the monitor and it loads! This monitor is a joke. I love the display, the curve, the lighting everything, but these issues are driving me crazy.

Some who get that say to power it right down (pull PSU cable to monitor) and leave it a good min or two then try again which IMO is not really usable.
