Next Graphics Card Drop for OCUK.. !

Do enlighten me if im being thick here.
But how can you oversell something if you set the stock level to 10, surely only 10 can then be purchased?

in the simplest terms -possible, the orders for said item come in so fast that it overwhelms ‘the system’ and it just can’t keep up hence the overselling.

The cards were set to auto remove if they sold out, the problem is this takes 1-2 minutes to action which has never been an issue in past time. But to avoid this I drop them in 3D printer section and remove a few minutes later, this method has worked all day until that last drop as clearly word got out.
However with these bots, scripts, alerts, trackers meant that even though we had like 200 units of the Gigabyte 3070 Gaming in stock on that last drop around 500 people have all tried ordering at once, hence the over sale, these are unprecedented times that a 3070 which is now several months old, at a price beyond MSRP, even in a section on the website that has nothing to do with graphics cards and had zero marketing behind it from OcUK still sells in such crazy volumes.

Now maybe people will realise why OcUK is not launching product any more if we can sell hundreds like this in minutes when we do everything we can to try and limit the sales, imagine if we went on social media shouting we got stock, order now, imagine if we listed them in their actual correct section, imagine forbid if we could actually sell them at MSRP (that is impossible by the way), the demand I cannot even put into words how freaking insane demand is, I think even if I put them at £2500 each, we'd have still sold out, certain people are just willing to pay any price to game, mine or scalp at present.

We try to be fair, we still get moaned at for high prices but the reality is there are resellers selling at even higher prices and yes some are selling at lower prices.

Nope
Order goes into website, payment processor checks details, website sends order to internal system and Internal system sends new stock level up to website....whole process takes a few minutes when working well and a lot longer when traffic levels are high. For the initial 3080 launch the internal system didn't start to see orders coming through until many hours after the products went live.

We are working on a new website and new internal systems to go live later this year which should hopefully stop this, but for now we're stuck.

800 quid for a 3070 is already a silly price but people are still lapping them up. When will this mining nightmare end..
Let's just say by the time things get back to normal, years of our lives would have passed.

I'd rather pay an extra £100-£150 now than have to wait 5 years to get one. IMHO.

@Gibbo @ScottiB . Thanks guys bagged myself a 3070 early on today around 3pm !! Appreciate the heads up a lot . I also took a nap after having only 3 hrs of sleep staying up watching everything yesterday/this morning but unfortunately at around 5pm they were listed on stock informer the listing popped up 3 different times for 3 different stock items .I really hope its bots scanning your website and not forum members as this is a service you would not get elsewhere I guarantee. Thanks again guys !!

I am a member of a discord channel and I can tell you that -

At 3pm someone posted a link to a 3070 gigabyte master,

At 5pm someone posted a link to 3070 gigabyte master and oc gaming again.

Oh and a 3090 water cooled product before that.

Maybe they scraped the site who knows.

I wish they wouldn't but people can't help themselves it seems.

Appreciate all your efforts guys regardless at least you are trying to help. I find it amazing though that there are 500 genuine indviduals all sitting waiting to buy stock that fast. It has to have got to discord or stock monitoring sites.

I dont think anyone is going to be buying a RTX 3070 for £2500, also it makes sense that Nvidia keep up stock levels with the 3070, imo its the worst of the bunch of cards, people either want 3060ti or 3080, I feel like Nvidia know this so will milk as much 3070 as possible first while they can

also how do other retailers sell close to MSRP?

I think you and other retailers should put your prices up even higher for the next couple of months and make the miners really pay.

I think most gamers like me can wait a few months before prices come back to normal before upgrading.

I still think Gamers looking to buy a new card are in the minority here and also the majority of Gamers have limited funds most of the buyers of these new cards are going to be buying to flip the card for profit or miners who can justify paying such high prices.

Thanks for confirming. Unfortunately, we can jump though hoops to stop bots but can't help glory hunting people who share the links outside of our forum. We honestly don't have the capability within our current website to, for example, require a forum account to enable ordering.
