NFL 2021 Season

It is a shame when games are impacted so heavily by injuries and stupid decisions (for penalties)
Well, it's the same again. I think I originally said this after the last Chiefs win?

At the same time, I truly believe you can never blame/credit a game to one play. Lots of things should/could have been different. If you are looking for the most impactful play of the game, I thought at the time Hurtz fumbled the ball, that would be the difference in the game and I think it was. You can't just give the Chiefs a free touchdown like that.

I was probably most surprised by the lack of pressure on Maholmes. I get that they got a crazy amount of sacks this season, mostly from just rushing 4, but at what point do you realise that's not enough in this game and put a little more pressure on him?

Good game but dreadful call at the end.... a very very weak holding call to basically end the game. Let them play - it was NEVER holding for me

Schuster was NEVER getting to that ball, he was barely touched. Would have been 4th & 8 - they kick the field goal and then Eagles would have had about 90 seconds on the clock.

Poor call for me.

I really think the playing surface impacted both defences. We had the 3rd best defence sack wise ever and the Chiefs DL isn't too shabby either and basically they had no sacks, the Chiefs sack Hurts just ran out of bounds.

The edge rushers couldn't get any grip on the turf, which when you are trying to get round blockers its just impossible. Chiefs did get some pressure up the middle but that didn't lead to much.

Very good game. Two phenomenal teams. Thought it was one of those where it was going to be unfair to the team that lost (I appreciate the 'silliness' of this statement). And the manner of the ending wasn't really in keeping with the rest of the game.

The Chiefs improved in the second half to come back into the game after really being quite outmatched in the first half (Hurts was phenomenal). The Chiefs running game and effectiveness of their OL was better than I thought it was going to be. And the Eagles Defence being so ineffective in this game, particularly the secondary. The turf was an issue but the Chiefs were doing their misdirection stuff all game. I do think a few things people won't talk about but I suspect helps the chiefs; Andy Reid, being more experienced in this situation and luck.

The Eagles were/are so close to it though you can't help but feel they have a great chance of being back in the next few year even if it is so hard to do.

Hope we're all enjoying the off-season (I have to say I am as a Bears fan).

I heard this interesting statistic the other day; since 2000 the only QB to make more than 15% of the salary cap and win the Superbowl is Patrick Mahomes. The only QBs who made more than 11% of the cap who have won the SB are; Mahomes, Brady and the Manning Brothers.

Apart from going against the logic of paying the QB postion so highly. I think it puts into perspective why so many NFL teams want to do the 'Seattle thing' and draft cheap rookies for their potential 5+2 years of cheapness (5 year rookie deal plus franchise tags - albeit the tags get expensive they are very short-term). The reality is that the $40-50m per year contracts are likely hamstringing your team unless you have the very best QB. Also will be interesting to see if this stat changes over the next few years as potential highly paid elite QBs (Burrows, Allen etc.) can win an SB.

As a Titans fan I don't know what having an elite QB is like, McNair was great but nowhere near elite.
Try being a Bears fan!

McNair and Moon were way better than anything in Chicago. That said I do get your point and look on enviously at certain teams that have had great QB(s) over the years.
