NFL 2021 Season

Some good games last night, I will put thoughts in spoilers in case not everyone is caught up (but tbf, why would you come in this thread if you weren't!?)

We won a game everyone thought we would. Most thought it would be a lot easier, so it perhaps doesn't bode well, but it's still very early.

A 2 point win for Miami... I think back to the completely stupid PI at the end of the first half that literally gifted Miami 3 points...

I did think it odd that so many people have picked the Giants to be so good. Last year they only won one game by more than one score, so their overall record could have been very different. I just don't think they're that good (don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I think the Commanders are any better), so no real surprise at this result. Again though, it's very early and things could go very differently later in the season.

With the AI's saying my draft was average ish, right now I'm the top scoring team in my league, but 20 points, but Josh Allen could pull that back to overtake my tally. I also have the top-scoring bench by about 30, having had Brandon Aiyuk sitting on it... Also, who would have thought I should have started Anthony Richardson over Lamar Jackson?! Still, it's a positive start for my guys with Ekeler and the 49ers D giving me an easy win in week 1.

As a Bears fan, the pain begins once more.

I think it's the meme this year. No one expected much but thought the Bears would show improvement. Indeed I thought we'd win 6 or so games. But holy f....was that bad. Lifeless is the word I would use.

Our trenches are bad, Our D is weak as we thought it would be. None existent run or pass D. DJ Moore still in Carolina. Fields, oof. I just don't know. But that D is like some coverage scheme thing that just keeps getting busted open and never blitzes. I'm getting real Mel Tucker vibes from this defence, which isn't good. Week one and all that but there are enough patterns to be really concerned right now. That's the sort of game that will get people fired.

Yeah, Fields is great for some highlights, for pulling a ridiculous play out of nowhere from time to time, but to consistently win games, you really need someone that can sit in a pocket and spread the ball about, right? (Or a really really good running game and D)

I don't know if I'm honest. I still think there are red flags there, or at least he has to show progression with his passing. And ultimately he has to do that or time will run out for him. Having said that he was far from the Bears biggest problem. Our OL was awful last night and he was pressured all game long and that was another bad game from Luke Getsy. So I sympathise that he might not be in the best place at the Bears.

Giants (as are the Commanders) are in a Division with 2 elite teams which is going to make life hard. Although the Giants did have a very good season last year which might be difficult to repeat.

Good stuff on Fantasy. I was looking solid for 3 out 3 wins but that Dallas D score has possibly stopped that happening. That 'who won your draft' predictions on NFL.com hate me and did gave me a 0-15 prediction this year which I'm rather proud of lol.

I do have Richardson as a backup in one team so rather chuffed as he looked good yesterday.

Whilst watching the Bears/Packers I did have RZ on all night and there was some really good games, particularly in the late window.

Anyway I'm off to watch Caleb Williams highlight reels all day.

I'm looking for something that will tell me what the most entertaining NFL game of the week has been? (So I can watch it when I'm not watching the saints) any ideas?

Last season I wondered if there was anything like this. I usually head to bed around halftime of the second set of games and it would be handy to know which ones were good, for catching up the next day. You need an IMDb for NFL games, each game gets rated etc...

Red Zone was kicking off last night some good games.

@GIBURROWS your guys got it done. Tannehill had a better game by the looks of things.

@Timber Fields isn't looking to be the guy is he. Our whole O line is shocking.

Been a flurry of tickets available again for sale for the London games and I actually managed to grab a pair for the Bills game. Not the best seats as I'm up in the gods but at least I'm going, now I just need to sort transport.

No, I don't think he is. Although he showed flashes in those 3 pass plays leading up to the Claypool TD. And that play from Barrett for the pick-6 was fantastic athleticism. I've said before but Fields has always had some issues albeit did show progression last year. Unfortunately it does look like he hasn't or won't make enough of a jump this year, although it's better for the Bears to answer that question now rather than middling play and him showing some hope. Whether this is lack of talent, poor coaching, Chicago being a bad environment or combination thereof is moot.

I do think though that Fields is only one of our problems. The whole team seems to be worse than last year which is very worrying. And is bad in the trenches amongst other things as you mentioned. The ways things are going Getsy, Andrews & Eberflus aren't likely to survive. Although I'm not sure Poles should be fired too. Given he's made some smart moves and was brought on alongside Eberflus. I'd be fine with him being in control of new HC and QB in the draft. One benefit of us being eliminated quickly is that it might halt any desire to do something stupid with either of our 1st rounders and trade for Taylor or something. Those picks are one of our strengths atm and should be used on new QB/DL/OL talent.

This weekend could be messy too as Nagy will be really motivated to beat us and the Chiefs could get their offensive woes sorted. Eek :/

Thought I was quids in with Burrow as my fantasy QB this season but he’s not been himself it would seem. Managed to scrape a W this week after an absolutely dismal performance last week.

Very nearly picked him up in one of the leagues I play. Luckily avoided that one. Seems his calf injury will have an impact yet. Also not good news for Chase owners either.

Touch wood but I'm having an OK time of it so far. I'm 2-1 for both weeks over the 3 leagues I play. Although I did have Chubb in one of my teams so that awful injury had me scrambling yesterday. I do feel at this stage WRs are harder to cover this year and more of a commodity. G. Wilson was one of my high rd picks but obviously has been impacted by the loss of Rodgers.
