NFL 2021 Season

Safe to say the Thanksgiving games have all been a letdown this year. Don't always have the opportunity to watch them but the GB/Det, Was/Dal & the game tonight (Mia/NYJ) have all been poor. Got done in by Prescott in fantasy too which doesn't help!

My fantasy season is properly rubbish this year. Have put in a waiver request for Rodgers and have picked up Cooper Kupp, so let’s see!
I play in 3 leagues with friends. And I got off to such a flyer that I was in early dreamland thinking about actually defending the two championships I fluked last year. Then a bit like the Niners my teams all started to hit the buffers as players like Chubb, Jefferson, K.Williams, K.Herbert all hit IR. And not helped by players like Waller being a disappointment. Hopefully I can put some winning streaks together but i will feel like an achievement just getting one of these teams into the playoffs.

I didn't think about Rodgers. I know Rodgers wants to set records and prove people wrong but with the way this season is a panning out what would be be coming back for? I feel like the Jets might be better served by letting him sit this one out.

Burrow was my QB and he’s been either disappointing or injured!

Rodgers for the Jets is an interesting one. Bringing him back might be a move for next season. They might somehow get in the playoffs with how this season is going, but after a pretty bruising defeat yesterday it’s looking less likely.

Yea, Burrows is unfortunate particularly given how good he has been over the past 2 seasons. Started he season injured and unfortunately ends that way. I did have the Bengals Def in one league but dropped them for the Chiefs given I don't think they'll do much now.

I get bringing Rodgers back for a playoff push. But given how competitive the AFC is and how putrid the Jets Offense is as a whole, it may be likely they are eliminated by December anyway. And Rodgers could do further damage. One benefit of a bad season this year is that much higher draft pick to use (on OL?) and potentially in a better place for next year. One thing for sure is I bet they have now learnt the value of actually having some cap room for a veteran backup QB.

Oooo...now us Bears fans know what winning two in a row feels like. Been a while.

In all seriousness even though Fields and the offense were much better against the Lions it does feel like the improving D is much the reason for that. Eberflus is clearly a very good DC and Montez Sweat is a hell of a player. Having a capable front 7 really does transform what the secondary can do. Think the Lions have had some bad games recently against us and the Packers but aren't that bad.

In Fantasy my best team has Herbert and Shroud as the QB options. Sigh. And my two 7-6 teams both lost pretty much confirming they are out of the playoffs. One of them lost 107.34 to 107.94. What a painful fantasy weekend!

I can’t believe Spurs and Fulham out-scored a winning NFL team yesterday. :D

Also, pity about the flag on that Travis Kelce trick play. Is there anything that man can’t do?

Part of me says 'it's such a BS call as it didn't have any effect on the play' then on the other hand I think 'how do these guys get paid so much and then make such basic mistakes'.
There's no way the refs get out of throwing a flag on that. I get they want refs out the way in big moments but it wasn't a little toe it was his entire foot.

You can interpret holding and hits but lining up offside, illegal formations and shifts have to be called every time. Refs hands tied here. Any criticism need to be directed to Tony for the brainfart mistake imo.

As a bears fan are you really sold on fields enough to pass up on a qb at 1?

Yeah, I guess this is my issue though. I could probably find you 10+ plays a game where a DE is lined up in the neutral zone and they don't bother flagging it. I believe they have been told to tighten up on it this year.

TLDR; I don't think so.

To put it simply he's not where he should be for a QB in year three and has certainly not warranted the sort of contract he'll need soon although I can see why there is the debate, it is not an easy decision. He's probably coming off his best games this season and I was 100% behind the Bears trading the no.1 pick to the Panthers last year. It was the right thing to do at the time.

The remaining games could well impact how this season is viewed after the horror show that was the first 3 weeks of the season. The Bears could have a solid finish and it may mean coaching changes are less likely. Although given so many first round QBs are busts or never make it to their first major contract I wouldn't be surprised if the Bears stick with Fields if only for another season or two to strengthen their squad. It's such a nightmare and lottery to get the early round picks 'right'. Although personally I'm not sure if that is the right move. Getting a no.1 pick is extremely hard and the Bears are very fortunate to have it this year so should view this as exceptional. They are also early enough in the GM's tenure to get away with resetting the QB contract. Although and it'll certainly make interesting viewing in the run up to the draft.

Well, some interesting games today in the early window!

The Eagles loss is brutal. I can't believe Tyrod missing that 2 pointer. He's going to be thinking about that one for a while. Miami's been made to look a little silly. Chicago are looking, well, average, but that's an improvement on the start of the season, right? Then with the 1st overall coming up. Good times ahead maybe?

Yes, quite the weekend. Particularly off the back of the controversial MNF game last night.

The Eagles looked jittery last week when the Giants kept coming back at them and obviously haven't looked good for a few weeks. Although still quite the shock. And throws out the top of the draft abit if the Cards are truely rumoured to like MHJ.

Baltimore definitely deserve the best team in football moniker atm.

As for the Bears - I think we've been this way for a few weeks. Montez Sweat, Eberflus being a good DC, good secondary and some improving players on D have all helped the Defense become a very solid unit. Particularly at home in Soldier Field. And tbf puts us where I think most people expected us to be at the end of the year. At the very least the first round pick gives us options. We will hear a lot of fake narrative from the Bears if they do see trading down as a viable option.

Let's go niners!!!

Very good night for the Niners. For a small moment when the Commanders were coming back and the offense was stalling a bit, with the Eagles easily winning, it was looking a bit up in the air. Two weeks off and a great chance to rest up.

I remember saying to my 49ers supporting brother earlier in the year (when the Niners were cruising before that 3-game stretch of losses) 'I hope you are making the most of it'. For some of us fans success like that is a dream or has come about so infrequently we've forgotten what it's like!

I've followed the niners since we lost to the ravens in the superbowl about 10/11 years ago. As soon as I started following them the team imploded for about 3 straight years.

Shannahan and lynch have certainly turned it around and we've been competitive the last 4 years but we've still got to get that lpmbardi. Im enjoying the pursuit though.

Fingers crossed its this year but to be honest I don't think we're the juggernaut we were a few weeks ago. Teams are definitely cottoning onto purdys game.

Showing my age, but I got into the game in the 1980's UK explosion so I remember Montana, Rice and Craig amongst others. And the Niners being a very dominant team. And some of those epic showdowns with the Cowboys and Green Bay teams in the 90's.

I think there's been some toxicity about Purdy. Rookie QBs will go through growing pains and for his part, he's had a fantastic first full season (he already had a pretty stellar start last year). There have been some dominant defences that have managed to overpower him (Browns, Ravens) but you're always going to have ups and downs in any season and he'll need to overcome that at some point.

Wow, wasn't expecting Tennessee to do us a favour tonight, especially after the Ravens didn't turn up yesterday. It takes the pressure off tonight so we can just go out and smash Miami to grab the #2 seed!

It's an odd evening of football. Seven games in the late window and probably the ones I would rather see. Usually go to be around half time of the second games... don't know if I'll be able to stay awake though this week!
