*** Nintendo Switch ***

Wondering how silly it would be to pick up an OLED for our eldest right now... (he's already got the non-OLED, which would be handed down to his younger brother).

With the Switch 2 on the horizon it feels like a bad idea, but it sounds like it's going to be at least 3-4 months before it's actually available
It would be really silly to buy an oled now.

Theres been absolutely no noise from Nintendo and its tomorrow. You would think they would at least have announced the direct or whatever it is with a day to go. The Switch was massive. The Switch 2 seems unlikely to just drop with a "hey guys, so here it is" without any sort of run up.

The original Switch reveal trailer dropped with pretty much no notice IIRC, so if that's all we're getting, I wouldn't expect much advance fanfare, it'll just appear on the various YouTube accounts

Shame it's not a little higher.

Not beating the Series S in docked 5 years after its release seems a bit anaemic at face value but I suspect it's at a tenth or less of the power draw.

I do have a feeling a lot of people will ultimately be slightly disappointed when the Switch 2 finally drops officially and we find out the specs, as expectations are building for this to be something i'm not sure it realistically can be or Nintendo would want it to be. 4K 60fps etc. I just don't see being on the cards for a portable device like this that'll probably have a 1080p screen at best, even when it's docked and able to pull a bit more power.

It's happening, people are disappointed that it's not going to be a portable PS5 level device :p

I still wonder why people are always surprised at Nintendo systems power, or rather lack of, when they haven't ever aimed for the cutting edge of tech. They choose to make fun accessible consoles that play games. They don't aim for high resolution high fps.

Instead making systems that people enjoy playing. Both children and adults alike. As they know how to make good enjoyable games, it's the gameplay and not the graphics that make good fun games.

I agree but I'm kinda sad it doesn't sound like 1080p 120hz is the target. I don't mind about 4k but more fps makes a big difference plus I want to get the best out of my TV which I got mainly because it is 120hz.

Not suprised, its never going to be a 4k high refresh rate monster but have enjoyed playing some PC ports on the Switch and hoping the Switch 2 carries on to get more big titles. More grunt makes it more attractive to developers.
