*** Nintendo Switch ***

I half wonder if we might see an "enhanced" version of GTA 5 released on Switch 2 at launch; based largely on the enhanced versions that were launched for PS4/Xbox One - a lot of folk would jump right in and buy it again to get it on a handheld.
Bound to happen; might as well do it at launch as people are getting excited about GTA 6 coming later....

Anyway, just waiting on an announcement now, got about £400 credit sitting in my Amazon account, might as well keep it for the Switch 2 launch!

Of course we will. Ports/remasters make absolute killings if the game was big on original release. They will 100% have GTA5 on the switch 2.

Hoping it releases around May so I can get it as a birthday present to myself :D

Have been playing my Switch more lately trying to get through a large back catalog of games as backwards compatability is still an unknown at this point.

I'm curious if they will release DLC for old Switch games to enhance them for Switch 2 that way you could just pay a couple of quid to update your current games.

As we don't know anything yet it's only speculation. It could be pretty straight forward if the hardware is just a more advanced chip, giving higher FPS on them would be easy and not require any patches. But as for higher res textures etc they would then likely need updates.

From the mock-ups we’ve seen it does, yes. Just wish they’d tell us something officially.
My guess is there will be two types of cartridge. Switch 1 games and Switch 2 games and that the new cartridge slot will accept both. Having a different cartridge for the Switch 2 makes sense as game sizes are likely to get a lot bigger with improved graphics etc.

You could put a different chip inside the cart and in a world where 2tb micro sd cards exist, I doubt space is an issue. It’s still 1080p so game sizes are not going to be silly.

They reused the same cart across DS and 3DS and 3DS games didn’t work on DS so it’s not unprecedented.

I'm sure Nintendo could comfortably increase the Game Card capacity for Switch 2 without significantly changing the form factor if they wanted to - the issue is more about not wanting people to be able to fit Switch 2 games into a Switch and wonder why it doesn't work.

I didn't think you could fit a 3DS card into a DS? They had a little tab on the end to stop them fitting IIRC. It wouldn't surprise me to see a similar simple solution for the Switch 2.

I did see a mock up game card and the top right of the Switch 2 card was a bit wider meaning it wouldn't fit on Swotch. Could be something as simple as that.

Bet they show a ten second 360° video of the hardware and we don't get any software info.
Or they'll show a very brief video of a game that will set people off, only to find out it's a work in progress.

Edit. I basically wrote this on the hope that I am completely wrong and it blows my socks off.
