I said the IQ would be bad, you do realise that IQ and graphics tech are 2 different things right?
You know how when you get a really old game and run it on a PC with high AA and AF, the IQ is really good, doesn't mean the actual graphics are anything amazing.
I never said the games would have terrible graphics, I said they would have terrible IQ which they will.
Vast majority of PS4 games are 1080P and the IQ on the Switch is going to be terrible because most Nintendo games don't have AA and/or have terrible filtering.
I wouldn't get too caught up in resolution discussions, internet is full of misconceptions on the subject.
Remember that many PS4 and XboxOne games are 900p (some 720p in the case of the Xbox). Obviously there will be compromises in other areas when comparing to more powerful consoles, but in terms of resolution/IQ things are looking alright for Switch considering it's form factor(portability).
Nice collection eXist !
I'd been thinking of picking up a second Wii U (mainly for the backup GamePad). I'm not a collector but...
(not pictured: Paper Mario Color Splash, Bayo 2 First Print)
have a bunch of digital games too, but mostly indie stuff.
Actually I'm very likely to pick up a Switch at some point, I don't see how liking Nintendo games and owning their consoles somehow prevents someone stating factual things about the company.
Or to be a Nintendo fan do I have to defend everything they do and everything anybody says about them? They are a company, not your friend. The Nintendo defense force in this thread is getting amusing.
It all depends on a persons own standards and expectations.
You used the word 'terrible' without clear context of the above so it came across as subjective, so I just assumed you wouldn't be purchasing a console with 'terrible IQ' - Sorry!.
I'm aware that the spec of the Switch is going to mean compromises when comparing to more powerful systems, but it's out of my control and not a major concern for me.
I could complain about how much worse some games run on consoles compared to PC, but I'm aware of why it's the case so I don't waste my time complaining about these things.
Much as image quality is a factor, for me its not huge in a broad target market.
I rate the wii as thw greatest console for a number of reasons. One is its popularity with traditionally non gamers, my ma bought one.
For her I think the expectation of tablet like functionality will be greater than mine, which is why I think a wii style comeback will be dependant on its ability to at least in part fulfil that expectation.
They havent, youre right but you dont get my point I think. It applies to ALL consoles now TBH, in that 1080p should be the standard resolution given how old it is now. Obviously its not important to everyone but I think it should be the standard is all.

Digital foundry seem to think 900p will be the norm though dont they? Dont get me wrong here though, Its not the be all and end all but I still find myself underwhelmed by it is all

Yeah, very true. We will just have to wait and see. I feel the same about the XB1 as well though to be fair to Nintendo. Not hating on them as I just want the best console they can make given I have one on pre order!
It was one of the launch games Nintendo used to showcase how third parties were on board with the Wii U. The rest of the list was Arkham City, Black Ops II, Darksiders II and Mass Effect 3 (FIFA 13 was also present, but it wasn't a big deal).
It's largely why I can't take Nintendo seriously when they claim Skyrim and "FIFA" show that third parties have confidence in the Switch. It says pretty much the opposite to me. Confidence would be a bunch of the best titles the Wii U missed out on being ported. Confidence would be the announcement of a number of upcoming, big budget multiplatform games landing on Switch.
