*** Nintendo Switch ***

FYI I'm keeping quite a close eye on Nintendos twitter accounts. I'll post up anything relative I see just to help keep everyone in the loop :)

EDIT: Need to add Dragon quest Heroes 2 to my list above.

Digging around online I've seen rumours of L.A.Noire coming to the Switch. Apparently when docked BOTW is actually 1080p and not 900p, the 900p was allegedly a mistake which has spun out of control due to social media, conflicting reports on this one. Not that it matters as you can't see a difference between 900p and 1080p anyway. Also other devs confirming development for the Switch as well and confirmations of other titles being worked on to bring them to the Switch.

Does seem like a LOT is in the pipeline for this console :)

Although I'm not going to simply bombard the thread with everything I find :p

Go for it-the thread needs all the positivity it can get!

Digital foundry have confirmed 900P and I'd take their word over anything Nintendo states, especially considering the site that started the rumor retracted it.

I wouldn't get too caught up in resolution discussions, internet is full of misconceptions on the subject.

Remember that many PS4 and XboxOne games are 900p (some 720p in the case of the Xbox). Obviously there will be compromises in other areas when comparing to more powerful consoles, but in terms of resolution/IQ things are looking alright for Switch considering it's form factor(portability).

Nice collection eXist !

I'd been thinking of picking up a second Wii U (mainly for the backup GamePad). I'm not a collector but...

have a bunch of digital games too, but mostly indie stuff.

Vast majority of PS4 games are 1080P and the IQ on the Switch is going to be terrible because most Nintendo games don't have AA and/or have terrible filtering.

The vast majority of games on the PS4 don't run in native 4K, doing 120fps. The IQ on the PS4 is going to be terrible because most Sony games don't have "pick your latest PC graphics tech not yet made it on consoles yet".

You are of course right that PS4 games looks nicer, talk about stating the obvious. What you forget and continue to forget like a broken record is that games like Inside or Shovel Knight are not bad games because they lack the graphical cutting edge are they?

That's your opinion but people who have actually played Zelda have said it looks great on the Switch.

There is more to games than just the pixel count, style and tone are just as important.

Exactly. I like Nintendo but Im not past criticising them about 900p. 1080p is what...12 or 13 year old now? Add that to the fact they hardly go for ultra real graphics and it most certainly should be hitting 1080p. Obviously its not about graphics all the time and gameplay is a huge factor but Ive read people have concerns about the frame rate drops on Zelda which is a worry when the resolution is being kept low.

The likes of Shovel Knight are brilliant games and dont need super high res graphics but if they are going to try for 3rd party games then they need to compete. Whats Skyrim going to run at considering its quite an old game now?

They can hit 1080p, Mario kart runs at 1080p 60fps.

I don't know any 360 or PS3 games from 13 years ago at launch doing that?

Did I say Inside or Shovel Knight looked bad?

Having bad texture filtering ends up with textures in the distance shimmering which could be seen quite clearly in the trailers, it's also obvious by all the jagged edges that there is no AA going on.

Is nobody allowed to comment negatively against anything Nintendo do even when it's stating the facts?

You basically implied if it isn't running 1080p without AA you might as well forget it ever existed. As if AA is the magical bullet that makes a great game.

You said VAST majority are going to be TERRIBLE due to graphic.

You are free to say what you want but expect a reply to question your "logic".

 ... guess you're not getting a Switch then!?. IQ obviously matters a great deal to you, which is fine.

I guess there's really only a handful of 900p games on PS4, it's become less of a thing now. WiiU's lack of AA in some games was somewhat amplified by most games being 720p.

I said the IQ would be bad, you do realise that IQ and graphics tech are 2 different things right?

You know how when you get a really old game and run it on a PC with high AA and AF, the IQ is really good, doesn't mean the actual graphics are anything amazing.

I never said the games would have terrible graphics, I said they would have terrible IQ which they will.

I think in this day and age where there's probably more people gaming on their iPhone or iPad than with a dedicated home console graphics aren't the be all and end all that they were and gameplay has more of a hook to people.

I think the Switch concept has merit, theres a lot of people who their primary gaming is on the move and home use is secondary, whether this actually is successful though is down to Nintendo getting 3rd parties on board and making sure its at a decent price.

Actually I'm very likely to pick up a Switch at some point, I don't see how liking Nintendo games and owning their consoles somehow prevents someone stating factual things about the company.

Or to be a Nintendo fan do I have to defend everything they do and everything anybody says about them? They are a company, not your friend. The Nintendo defense force in this thread is getting amusing.
