*** Nintendo Switch ***

I hope I can xfer my ps4 key for yooka-laylee to switch. Just waiting on a backerit update.

Fingers crossed

Unless you really want a portable version you might want to hold fire. I suspect the game will have to be tweaked to run on the Switch. I want to run this with all the bells and whistles!

I think the guy is forgetting that all the system is packed in a portable console. Lol. If it was a proper console, I would totally agree with him, but it is not. Try holding a PS4 in your hand to play. Lol.

Plus, I am sure there is more performance yet to be unlocked over time as developers get used to it, in addition to that, when a game is built from ground up for a system, you will likely get more out of it.

To be honest sure I would have preferred Nintendo release a proper console that is somewhere between a PS4 and PS4 Pro in performance for that price. But my minimum expectation was Wii U performance due to the form factor, and it is definitely faster than an Wii U, so I am happy :D

I think Mario will probably manage to hit 1080p when docked.

I think he talked about the system in a previous video

It's one of those games where the art style does a lot for it rather than the power of the console, like a lot of first party Nintendo games actually.

I'd be interested in the portable version too if it holds up in terms of framerate and features.

I may double dip on it.

Same.

It's the kind of game I'd like as a portable. I'll be getting it for the switch, unless I'm not travelling for a while then PC.

I've had a few days to digest the information now and the one thing that I still can't understand is why software in the launch window is so sparse.

We've had practically nothing the past year and a half for the Wii U, with many people (myself included) assuming that development has moved over to the Switch. Based on this I was expecting some real heavy hitting titles to be out either at launch or soon after launch.

Zelda is great, but was originally for Wii U and so I can't really count that as a definitive launch title for the Switch in and of itself. Mario Kart is also great, but is essentially the Wii U version and is not even available at launch.

Added to this, nintendo have recently combined both their handheld and home console divisions. The switch caters to both markets and so I don't really understand what the handheld division have been spending their time doing either.

I want this to succeed, but i just struggle to comprehend why they decided to push for the March release when they just don't have software to get out the door.

Nintendo could do far worse than remastering a bunch of their old games. Job done - massive library of good stuff. Most kids these days probably haven't played them.

It's sparse so they can trickle out games each month and then claim no droughts.

Maybe. But still would have been nice to have got one more big game on launch.

I am actually most interested to see what they have lined up for 2018 on the Switch.

January 19th 2017 and you're interested in 2018.

No wonder Nintendo is supposedly doomed.

The VideoGamer podcast discussed the price of the Switch and Simon Miller said he'd seen a report where if you take inflation etc. into account then it's the 4th cheapest console launched (at least from a US perspective).

Now thats a nice chart, thanks for sharing.

Look at the WiiU and Switch at polar opposite ends! I feel robbed now - good job I used gift vouchers towards my purchase.

Im still massively happy with the WiiU and just amazed im still going to be able to play Zelda without the need to buy a Switch. Like someone mentioned above, they dont understand why so few first party games are out at launch because the Wii U has had almost nothing for 1.5 years from Nintendo. I remember the only one 'AAA' game from Nintendo in 2016 was Starfox Zero (a.k.a Starfox64 HD) with its inept design choices that ruined half the game. They made a worse version of an N64 on-rails shooter game in 2016!!! Not even Platinum games could save it. What were Nintendo doing all this time? (please not working on 1,2,Switch!!!)

Maybe they cancelled a whole load of projects and just didnt commit to new ones. Thats why we have ARMS... *sigh*

After skimming through the recent entries on this thread I have to agree that voice chat really isn't workable in its current format. Disregarding the fact that voice chat via phone is completely ridiculous, how the hell are you meant to speak in a team while using any kind of headset? The Vita had a voice chat feature using either its inbuilt mic or a headset and its 5+ years old with a fraction of the resources to play with so the Switch can't use that as an excuse. I always game with a headset but to be honest if i was to buy this console I probably wouldn't play any online multiplayer games so it shouldn't be an issue.

A related question, does anyone know if this device will support Bluetooth headsets? I know the controllers are meant to be Bluetooth anyone who owns PS4(and maybe Xbone) will know that doesn't mean squat when it comes to supporting third party headsets. I'm also curious if the 3.5mm socket can accept a mic(TRRS jack?) signal incase Nintendo come to their senses in the future and decide to support voice chat on the device.

On a positive note the UI does indeed look nice :p
