*** Nintendo Switch ***

Hi all,

Interested in this console I'm in 2minds about selling my PS4 to be able to purchase this. I hardly get to play my PS4 and when I do it's only less than 2 hours.

The switch seems great as I can take it to work & whatnot. But top games ofc won't be featured (battlefield) is it just another gimmick? :/ though I do miss be days of N64 Zelda & Mario Kart & Mario.

So looking at Amazon there is a grey console so I take it I don't need any extras?

I think it would be a bad idea to sell a PS4 or Xbox One to get a Switch, there are far too many games you won't be able to get. Switch will be good as a second console

Hi,

Is it just a gimmick? Good question. Some think yes, some think no, some keep switching...either way, we'll find out!

Gimmick or not, it's being released in 6 weeks today. We'll know soon after following it's release if its a gimmick or otherwise.

If you like playing the big AAA titles and can afford 1 console, I'd stick with the PS4. If you can afford both, then get both!

IMO it really depends on what you want to play. If you miss Nintendo, then get Nintendo.

And you're right, you can play it out of the box. You don't need anything extra to play it (as far as I am aware?)

Official case has a built in stand in case you wanted to leave it in there (bottom part of image):

I do want one, but I've been partly put off by the battery life, 2 to 6 hours?! We know when gaming it'll be using the most power so its going to be 2 hours, possibly a bit less. That's barely portable. It'll need to have good support and those AAA titles will need to be excellent and coming thick and fast for this to be a success.

The mobility of this is what interests me as well. I'm keeping my PS4 and XB1 though.

Battery power is a concern and we don't fully know how long playing something like Zelda on the go will last. There are some decent power banks out there which I've been looking into lately.

It depends on the game. Thats not a guarantee for everything you're doing on it.

It is reported that BOTW is getting about 3hrs.

Good luck on the AAA titles.

Me to. That plus the Nintendo exclusive titles. Don't have a 4k TV so I'm not interested in the ps4 pro or Xbox Scorpio. The switch will be my new toy for this year!

Oh, and there's no way anyone should consider buying this as their only console platform unless you only ever game the go and want an upgraded 3ds.

If you enjoy games like battlefield (not my cup of tea personally) then you will end up missing your PS4. By the sounds of it you don't get much to game much though anyway, so won't make much of a difference. If you miss Nintendo games then I think selling and getting the Switch would make sense for you. But only if you think you will be enjoying the Nintendo exclusives.

What is the worst that can happen anyway, if you end up missing your PS4 then you sell the Switch and buy a PS4. At least if you buy one now, you get the Switch for £270 by using the £10 amazon discount code :)

And no, you don't need extras.

Plus I think I'd die playing Res 7 in vr

Lol :D

Lets be fair, it'll be bad enough on my UW monitor using my pc / ps4.

I dread the VR experience hahaha (aprt from the chunder truck from my crappy eyes / brain :P ) :D

I keep switching (lol) between really wanting one of these and being put off by the crazy pricing, probability of another post-launch price-cut, and the usual "dumb Nintendo" decisions. I have to admit, the £50 Amazon offer makes everything much more palatable. Brings the games and accessories down to what I'd expect to pay on other platforms.

If I hadn't just built a new PC I'd probably have put an order in. It's the portability that's attractive; I currently stream games from my PS4 and PC so I can play them in the living room while the missus watches TV. It's a rather clunky set-up, but it's better than being subjected to EastEnders or Holby, and preferable to becoming a hermit that lives in the spare bedroom :p A Switch would be a much neater solution.

Whats crazy about the price?
The pro controller is the only thing that seems pricey to me

LOL. It will be my only console. I sold my PS4 about two days after winning it in a raffle. It has no games that interest me. Apart from two exclusives. But I'll play them eventually.

Exactly. Why do people think such silly things.

Only game I will be interested in on the PS4 is The Last of Us 2. Will just borrow a friends PS4 and play it. Whereas on the Switch there will be lots of exclusives I want to play.
