Yey. Made the looooooooooooooonnngg wait for the promised WiiU version worth it :/ But hey, Nintendo haven't made any games for the Switch yet and the port will sell systems.
To be fair think it's a little unfair, the WiiU version is pushing the WiiU hardware to it's limits I think, whereas the Switch hardware is more powerful so naturally can run higher settings (case in point Mario Kart which is 720p60 on WiiU and 1080p60 on Switch). Far better than cancelling the WiiU version which they haven't done, they've just had to cut corners (Draw Distance etc) more to keep the framerate fluid, memory usage down etc. They've kept the framerate the same, so there is fundamentally more power left over to do more on the Switch.
In PC analogy it'd be like waiting for a game to come out and running it on one system with a GTX 960 and 4GB RAM and on the other newer system you have a newer GTX 1060 and 8GB of RAM, you'd expect to run higher framerates or settings (or both) on the 1060 PC, normal vs high for example. Same situation here.
The WiiU is weaker than the Switch in hardware, that's all there is to it; BOTW WiiU still looks great for a WiiU title when you consider what's being pushed and the massive open world; I think they'd have struggled to fit something like that on the PS3/360 at all, look at Skyrim PS3 which kept crashing, and this looks better and seems to have more going on!
At this point in the day, Switch around the corner, people would be really irritated if they only released BOTW on WiiU which is EOL, and not Switch!
