*** Nintendo Switch ***

Yey. Made the looooooooooooooonnngg wait for the promised WiiU version worth it :/ But hey, Nintendo haven't made any games for the Switch yet and the port will sell systems.

To be fair think it's a little unfair, the WiiU version is pushing the WiiU hardware to it's limits I think, whereas the Switch hardware is more powerful so naturally can run higher settings (case in point Mario Kart which is 720p60 on WiiU and 1080p60 on Switch). Far better than cancelling the WiiU version which they haven't done, they've just had to cut corners (Draw Distance etc) more to keep the framerate fluid, memory usage down etc. They've kept the framerate the same, so there is fundamentally more power left over to do more on the Switch.

In PC analogy it'd be like waiting for a game to come out and running it on one system with a GTX 960 and 4GB RAM and on the other newer system you have a newer GTX 1060 and 8GB of RAM, you'd expect to run higher framerates or settings (or both) on the 1060 PC, normal vs high for example. Same situation here.

The WiiU is weaker than the Switch in hardware, that's all there is to it; BOTW WiiU still looks great for a WiiU title when you consider what's being pushed and the massive open world; I think they'd have struggled to fit something like that on the PS3/360 at all, look at Skyrim PS3 which kept crashing, and this looks better and seems to have more going on!

At this point in the day, Switch around the corner, people would be really irritated if they only released BOTW on WiiU which is EOL, and not Switch!

I think all the Wii-U switch comparisons are of 2016 E3's Wii-U build against Jan 2017's switch build. I wouldn't be surprised if the Wii-U one looks like the switch one now.
I could be mistaken, though.

So... Ive got several long haul flights during the course of the year...

This could make the Switch ideal to take along....

Wonder how well the unit charges as you are using it...

I am sure it will charge at least as fast as it is being used up. So if you had it plugged into a big fat power bank, you can extend play time considerably or if the plane has power outlet you can play as much as you want.

Does anyone know what mah battery the Switch has? I have a 20000+ mah power bank, I wonder how many times it would charge it. Between one to two times would be my guess.

Is it the new thing to hate a new console? Xbox one had it PS4 pro had it and now switch is having it, not just here but also on YouTube comments.

The Xbox One had it because of the ridiculously bad E3 reveal
Not sure why the Pro had it, but I was critical of the lack of UHD drive
Switch is having it for various reasons, overpriced, underpowered, lack of release games etc

People will be critical, whilst there are reasons to be critical.

Sonic Mania is going to be great on this little machine. One of my most looked forward to titles.

:D

I agree, pretty excited for this too!

edit:- is Sonic download only or will it have a physical release? Hope physical I'd love an awesome old skool Sonic game on cartridge!

At this time it's digital only. The SE on ps4 / xbox one has a figure and stuff, but it's still a code :(

Are people looking forward to ARMS? I wasn't so much but don't know a lot about it. Just checked the video's it actually looks like a lot of fun.

Yep-considering using some Game credit to get an additional pair of Joy-Cons.

That's the thing, I will need to buy another set of Joy-Cons! I was really only budgeting for one Pro controller. Humph, I have a bit of expandable income but this machine could be costly.

I think I will wait and see how I feel once I've played on the machine for a while.

Will wait and see reviews. Is this a Switch exclusive game?

£50 seems expensive unless it turns out to be awesome.

I kinda like it. But don't want to buy another set of Joy Cons for one game so far.

That's my general feelings about the switch. I've preorded the console and Zelda but I'm going to wait until I've had a chance to play with it for a week before I decide whether to buy any more accessories like controllers, cases and memory cards.

Depends on how you want to look at it-I see buying the Joy-Cons as a means to having potential 4 player games for Mario Kart, Bomberman initially, and then Splatoon and NBA later on in the year.

That's a good point. 4 player local multiplayer on the one device could be a pretty cool feature.
